Street Tacos in LAX Star Alliance Lounge

My love for Mexican food was recently satiated by extremely tasty street tacos at the LAX Star Alliance Lounge.

If you read me regularly, you know that I am a hopeless optimist when it comes to Mexican food. Indeed, I seek it out in every country that I visit. I’m often disappointed, but I think it is a better tradition than bringing home mugs or refrigerator magnets.

This time, however, I did not have to go far from home…or even pay for it.

The LAX Star Alliance Lounge is currently offering street tacos in the afternoon every Tuesday. When I enter the lounge I head straight for the outdoor patio, but if you enter the balcony overlooking the concourse below you will see a taco cart.

I would have missed this had a friendly lounge attendant not taken it upon herself to gather some tacos on a cart and wheel them around the lounge. I love that initiative.

Each plate contained two tacos – one with chicken one with carnitas (pork). The corn tortilla was fresh, the pico de gallo wonderful and I’m not ashamed to admit I had six tacos. The lunch of champions…

Augustine enjoyed them too:

Bad news, though. The Intelligentsia coffee is gone…

CONCLUSION

If you’re in the Star Alliance Lounge at LAX and like tacos, look for the taco cart.

And lest I be unbalanced, the oneworld lounge one level below has offered street tacos for years–

Since you ate six, how much did you tip her?

      More than the tacos cost.

That’s quite generous, considering they were free.

That does look pretty good. But your California-Mex still isn’t real Mexican food. 🙂
