Lounge Review: Wingtips St. Louis (Priority Pass)

The Wingtips Lounge St. Louis offers travelers a break from the terminal. This Priority Pass lounge offers access for pass holders as well as those who want to pay for a break from the gate area.

Location & Access

The Wingtips St. Louis lounge is located in Terminal 2 opposite of gate E29 at the far end of the terminal. Access is permitted for members of the following lounge programs:

  • Priority Pass
  • Lounge Club
  • Diner’s Club
  • Lounge Key
  • LoungeBuddy (for a fee)

Those who do not participate with those programs can purchase access for $36 through LoungeBuddy or $38 for walk-ins. Those that have Priority Pass through the Chase Sapphire Reserve or the American Express Platinum credit cards can bring in guests along with their own included entrance.

The lounge lists the following hours of operation which are no doubt reflective of traffic volumes, but can be a little tough to predict in a delay.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 7:00am – 8:00pm
Wednesday, Friday, Sunday: 7:00am – 1:00pm  //  3:30pm – 8:00pm  (Closed 1:00pm – 3:30pm)
Saturday: Closed

Food & Drink

Food was available from open (the connecting flight was very early) but it was a little sparse even for a Priority Pass lounge. The continental breakfast options included bagels, yogurt, and some fruit options.

Coffee machines were also availble as are cocktails for those interested in something stronger. All drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic other than coffee are served from the bar by staff members. The staff member on duty during this visit was excellent. She grabbed drinks, went back to the front to admit others, restocked food – for the few in the lounge she was a whirling dervish.

Space to Work

Wingtips St Louis has plenty of space to work, some areas with great views out of large glass windows. There’s a high top bar along the windows, and a mix of tables, seats, and leather chairs.

The lounge also offers a a conference room, though it was unfortunately “reserved” the morning of this visit at open. It’s not that our party needed the room but it seemed like maybe the room is never available. For those that find themselves working or taking conference calls (especially during a delay as is common at the moment) this room would have been great as a phone room as many other lounges offer.

Unfortunately, nearly all of the chairs were not clean. We could have included nearly every seat in this lounge but the photos would have all been the same. Crumbs in the cushions may not seem like much, but if almost every chair is dirty, what else is dirty that we can’t observe?

Conclusion

Wingtips is not the only Priority Pass lounge at St Louis Lambert International Airport, but it was most convenient for our departures. It offers guests wifi, food, and drink, service was good, space was plentiful, and there was enough food options to keep our party occupied during out visit. That said, there could have been more food options, cleanliness was a concern, and phone rooms would have been a plus.

What do you think? Have you visited Wingtips or any other Priority Pass (STL) lounge?

Other 2 are restaurants- airside in terminal 2 (Southwest and now Lufthansa) and land side in terminal 1.
Lufthansa biz class will also start using this Wingtips lounge.

Typical offering from my hometown airport; we’re gonna try but only half as good as promised and make it so the majority of people who actually have lounge access (i.e. Priority Pass etc) won’t actually be able to access it. In other words if you’re flying any other carrier but LH (flying in the premium cabin) or WN (wonder what % of high-value WN paxs have lounge memberships?) its near impossible to access unless you have a lot of time on your hands and want to ride the MetroLink between terminals.

At least they took the time to actually rip out the dust covered booths/tables from when it was a Taco Bell Express rather than rolling in an ice cooler with kegs of Natty Light and a tray of stale toasted ravs.

While not surprising, it is sad to see the growing list of carriers retiring this superjumbo jet. On Malaysia Airlines, I flew the #A380 once from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to London (LHR) and had the entire first class cabin to myself (full review on the blog). It was a beautiful flight that I will always remember.
