Confession time. When I was a kid, I used to stand outside this lounge, flag down a person coming in, and ask to be guested in. Yes, that’s my memory of the B6 United Club at Chicago O’Hare. Much has changed…but I still smile at that memory.
I remember the first time I walked here. It was March 2006. My brother and I were traveling to Providence, Rhode Island and we got some guy to guest us into what was then called the Red Carpet Club. I recall the restroom at the time. It had red marble. I liked it. I remember there was an ashtray above every urinal.
Anyway, much has changed. The lounge has been remodeled. The red marble and ashtrays are gone. Now this Club looks like most other domestic United clubs.
United Club Chicago ORD B6 Review
Location + Hours + Access
Located across from gate B6, this lounge is currently open from 5:45am to 6:45pm.
Access is reserved for United Club members, Chase United Club Visa holders, Star Alliance Gold travelers, and international business or first class passengers traveling on any Star Alliance flight.
Furthermore, one-time passes from Chase are accepted or can be purchased for $59. Note that if you hold a Star Alliance Gold card from United Airlines (Premier Gold or higher), you can only access the lounge when traveling in conjunction with an international itinerary.
Those who have a Star Gold card from other programs can use the lounge when traveling on any Star Alliance flight in any class of service. Also note that from ORD, United does not give premium cabin passengers access on domestic flights without status.
Global Services passengers are also allowed complimentary entrance.
You enter the lounge on the departure level, check-in with reception, then take an escalator upstairs to what is actually a large club (17,435 square feet). You’ll find plenty of seating—either chairs or long tables with bar-type chairs.
Whenever I am in this lounge, I make a beeline for the phone booths, located behind the smaller buffet. As you step off the escalator, walk straight, then turn right and you’ll see four of these. It’s a perfect place to be left alone and be able to have telephone conversations without disturbing others.
Food + Drink

This United Club bring back many memories. While amenities are limited, it offers clean restrooms, flight help, a decent selection of packaged snacks, and fast internet. Head to the phone booths for a bit of privacy.
