What Is Explora Journeys?
This site has covered Explora Journeys a few times, but it’s worth revisiting what the product is. Explora is a cruise line for people who don’t like cruises. The brand has created a luxury five-star resort at sea and goes to great lengths to differentiate itself from what most associate with cruises.
For example, Explora has seven dining venues plus unlimited in-room dining and numerous bars and lounges throughout the ship. With the exception of just one restaurant, Anthologie which features a rotating chef and elevated menu, restaurants and drinks are included with no further cost.
The ship doesn’t have a single fluorescent waterslide, but it does have an adults-only pool, about a dozen hot tubs around the ship (some as long as 12 feet), and infinity pool, a large central conservatory pool with retractable roof for inclement weather, and another with views of the aft of the ship.
Explora caps children onboard at 20 for most journeys, will only sell under capacity at 900 passengers, and boasts a 1:1 to 1.25:1 guest to crew ratio. There’s no such thing as an interior room, or ocean view, every single suite onboard has a terrace with at minimum a table for two and a chaise lounge. Each suite offers a walk-in closet, heated marble floors, a full size shower, and a Dyson hair dryer.
Explora doesn’t stop at the traditional Caribbean cruise haunts like Nassau, Cancun, or Punta Cana. Instead, it favors deeper journeys to islands like St. Barths, Guadeloupe, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, and Montesserat. In Europe, Explora visits places like Malta, Tunisia, and Capri.

Explora Journeys is my favorite travel product over any flight, hotel, or resort because it wraps travelers in a luxury environment while moving them from unique destination to destination. The execution is so well done with elevated service levels, in a casual luxury environment. It’s created for resort visitors and business class customers, not necessarily cruisers, and this extra 5% off already discounted fares is a great way to try it for yourself.
