First Look: Beautiful New Air France Lounge At Los Angeles (LAX)

The new Air France Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) opened earlier today. Here are some photos and observations from the beautiful new lounge space.

First Look At New Air France Lounge At LAX

This lounge is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (soon to be renamed Terminal 3), specifically in the Midfield Satellite Concourse (also called the west gates). It is open daily from 9:00 am to 11:30 pm. It is a large lounge, 11,500 square feet, with seating for up to 172 passengers.

A reader sent me the pictures below. He arrived just after opening and had the lounge to himself…it is quite a trek out to the west gates and the first Air France / KLM flight that departs is not until the KLM flight to Amsterdam at 1:50 pm.

Unlike other lounges in the Bradley Terminal, this lounge has natural light and tarmac views.

The special La Premiere (first class) section is behind a closed door. A full-service Clarins Spa will be opening later this year. Shower facilities are available.

This lounge joins five other Air France lounges in the USA:

  • Boston (BOS)
  • Houston (IAH)
  • New York (JFK)
  • San Francisco (SFO)
  • Washington (IAD)

Access is reserved for SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling on an international flight and SkyTeam business class passengers.

I’ll check out the lounge myself in the days ahead, but from these photos and firsthand report, it looks like a very nice lounge and a far better alternative to the Korean Air Lounge, the other SkyTeam lounge located in the Bradley Terminal.

Looks very nice. Will be flying LP from there to see the Paris Olympics. It’s nice that there’s a separate section for LP passengers and a seating space for Ultis.

Why from LA instead of NY?

The gastronomical selection won’t be taken as Le Comptoir inspired.

The Korean Air lounge is so blah, so this is definitely an upgrade for Skyteam flyers.

Question is if this lounge or the delta Club is nicer.. This is obviously closer for AF Departures but I had been delta lounge for all sky team international out of LAX…

It looks good, but this will be the second airport where I would say that the Sky Club alternative is better (the first one is an even wider discrepancy at BOS). But the last time I was in the KAL lounge, they had Korean fried chicken, so I might still instead go for that…

IAH lounge is currently closed for renovations so hopefully will be much nicer once reopened.

Worse than the lounge they used to have at ORD?

looks very nice…doesn’t take much to improve on the KAL lounge at TBIT.

Maybe I need to fly Air France business someday….

1:50 pm departure from LAX to Europe? Ouch. That’s awful.

Am I the only one who thinks the lounge looks more like a Sky Club than an Air France lounge? Even the glasses and serviceware aren’t the standard Air France designs.

Is the alcohol free? I don’t think Air France has many lounges with a staffed bar. Normally, the wine and spirits are self-serve at Air France lounges. I’m curious to know what the wine selection is because the Air France and KLM lounges in Toronto and Houston are awful with cheap $3-$5 wine, not even a real champagne. The Dulles Air France lounge is good, at least in terms of wine.

When you ask about alcohol, there’s a photo of the bar and a bottle of champagne.

With regards to flight times AF has upto 5 daily flights during summer with the first at 13:40 which arrives at 09:20 therefore connecting with a large number of flights to Europe Africa etc

To add KLM has upto two daily with the first at 13:50

Alcohol is free, for now at least.

I’m looking forward to trying it next week. Do you know if an AM Premier One ticket gets me into the First Class section, or is it reserved just for AF La Premiere pax?

You might want to add that for KL/AF only specific business class tickets have lounge access. Not the cheapest fares.

That’s not specified on the access page. Do you have fare classes?
