Great Coffee In Barcelona

I didn’t have to go far to find great coffee in Barcelona…all I had to do was walk down to my hotel’s lobby.

Wherever I am in the world, I search for great coffee. While in Barcelona, it was right under my nose.

Philosofia
Located in Hotel SOFIA
Plaça de Pius XII, 4, 08028 Barcelona, Spain / +34 935 081 030

I’ve raved about Hotel SOFIA already. It’s a beautiful, luxurious hotel in a great part of Barcelona. But it also has great coffee.

You’ll find Philosofia on the ground floor of the hotel. The coffee shop is open seven days per week, from 7:00AM to 8:00PM. Step in and you might think you are in a library. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves line three sides of this book café.

Here’s how the coffee shops describes itself:

I am a space with different rhythms that fit with early mornings, hurried strolls and mid-morning coffees. It’s my gift to those who pass by Avenida Diagonal and wish to delight in a memorable pause on a privileged terrace. The solution to a hectic midday or for drinking an exquisite fresh-pressed juice; a place to choose refinement and savour it while you stroll through Barcelona.

You can view the full menu here, but the cappuccino just hit the spot. Highly recommended.

One other hint. If you’re staying at the hotel, but all means try Philosofia, but the hotel also offers tremendous coffee with breakfast so this is for an afternoon treat if you are a hotel guest.

CONCLUSION

I love Hotel SOFIA in Barcelona and cannot wait to return. One reason I love it is because of Philosofia, a beautiful coffee house that made the overall experience so much better. I’m sure there are many great cafes in Barcelona, but it was nice to have one just a few paces away from my room!
