In case you missed my recent Hotel St. George review, I want to draw your attention to a great place for coffee in Helsinki, Finland.
Best Coffee In Helsinki, Finland
My hotel featured a thriving café with excellent coffee.

I love Helsinki and particularly loved how well-dressed people were. It is nice to see people take a bit of pride in their appearance (in LA, it is not uncommon to see several people grocery shopping in their pajamas on any given day).
The coffee menu and La Marzocco machine instantly betray that great coffee is offered here. I enjoyed a flat white and had to fight every temptation to stick to my diet and enjoy some fresh-baked bread or pastries that smelled so delicious.
I suspect St. George Bakery is on the pricy side for coffee in Helsinki, but I was not disappointed by a double shot flat white (that’s standard…often I have to ask for a second shot).
Because it was below freezing and I was improperly dressed (no winter coat or gloves), I chose to stay in my hotel, but Peter, a Live and Let’s Fly reader in Helsinki, has recommended the following places:
- Kaffa Roastery
- Rams Roastery
- La Torrefazione
- Johan & Nyström
- Paulig Kulma
- Way Bakery
- Cafe Pequeno
- Cafe Sävy
- Good Life Coffee
- Kulmakuppila
I look forward to visiting every one of these places in the years ahead. As I do, I will continue to update this story with more pictures and reviews.
For now, though, you cannot go wrong at St. George Bakery and if pastries and sandwiches are your thing, the food looks great there as well.
Helsinki is a great city for coffee. I think it’s probably hard to go wrong anywhere.
I suspect (it’s been a few years since I was in a café [covid]) that the coffee prices at the St George Bakery are fairly standard for any place in Helsinki offering more than just filter coffee. They don’t seem much higher than the norm 5-10 years ago.
