Lucky shares that Lufthansa has opened the award space floodgates on its new route between Toronto and Munich that begins on June 5, 2014. Space is going fast already but Lufthansa has released eight business class seats and four first class seats on every flight! Typically, Lufthansa First Class award space is only bookable by Star Alliance partners 15 days or less prior to travel, but on this route Lufthansa has released space not only to Miles & More members but to partners as well.

And if using your United miles, a r/t from anywhere in the Lower 48 and Canada and anywhere in Europe is 50K miles each way in business or 67.5K in first. Consider that after the devaluation, these flights will cost 70K each way in business or 110K each way in first class.
This abundance of award space happens often when a new route is introduced by a carrier, but it never lasts long–I suspect by this evening or tomorrow at the latest it will be gone. So book now–you have 24 hours to cancel or modify a United award ticket without penalty. A family vacation to Europe–even in first class–is within reach. You may have to double connect to get to Toronto and back to wherever your departure city is, but it seems a small price to pay if it is Lufthansa First you are after.
If you do not mind business, consider to the new Mexico City – Munich route that Lufthansa will be inaugurating on April 3, 2014 that also has plenty of business class space for travel in the spring and summer.
