A woman opened fire at Dallas Love Field Airport just before noon on Monday, sending passengers scrambling for cover. Police responded immediately, shooting and wounding the suspect, who is now in custody. One eyewitness reports the suspect blamed marital infidelity as the motive for the shooting.
Shooting At Dallas Love Field – What Was The Motive?
According to Dallas Police Chief Edgardo Garcia, here’s what we know:
- The 37-year-old suspect was dropped off at the airport around 11:00am near the Southwest Airlines check-in area
- She went into the restroom and emerged in different clothes and holding a shotgun
- Preliminary reports suggest she fired several rounds at the ceiling
- A nearby officer responded and shot her below the waist, then arrested her
- She is now being treated at Parkland Hospital
While a motive has not been definitively established, NBC5 DFW reports that marital infidelity might be at the root of this. It interviewed Colby James, who was standing near the woman when shots range out. James said:
“She basically said her announcement, talking about her husband was cheating or something. And she basically said she was about to blow this sucker up. After she said that she pulled out a gun. She fired the first shot in the air and basically, everybody scattered. We were running. There were 10-12 more shots after that.”
Earlier I spoke with an eye witness who described what he and his wife saw inside at the ticketing counter. They said a woman said she was going to, “Make an announcement” then they saw her pull out a gun. @NBCDFW pic.twitter.com/KSzsma0iJY

LUV airport has noted on Twitter page that a ground stop is currently in effect:

Southwest Airlines noted it has “paused all departures and arrivals as we wait for additional information from authorities.”
This is breaking news.

She’s a career criminal that also robbed a bank a few years ago…..nice gal. Since she’s black and the cops shot her, does anyone know what time the mostly peaceful rioting and night of mayhem starts?
So Chris, do you jump out of bed ready to be a racist piece of garbage every morning, or does that come later in the day once you’re a bit tired? Thank you for your nuanced and valuable contribution to this discourse here, buddy!
Anything I said untrue?
Well, you’ve taken an irrelevant aspect of this story (the woman’s race) and used it to generalize about the violent (in your eyes) response of the black community. No one is going to feel aggrieved about an armed person at a major airport being arrested with force, just like no one feels aggrieved about the countless other arrests everyday across the US of dangerous people of all races. If you possessed critical thinking skills, you wouldn’t have to subject the rest of the blog’s readers to your grievance of the day.
Not irrelevant at all. You’ve been telling me for two years that the police show up and instantly murder every black person that they encounter on a daily basis just for sport. I know the disappointment hat she lived is going to hard for you to stomach.
Although I don’t agree with Chris’s comments; it isn’t true that “No one is going to feel aggrieved about an armed person at a major airport being arrested with force…” Sometimes people are aggrieved when, in most cases a black person, is shot by police. Regardless how deserving that person was to be shot.
Just recently is a perfect example. Cops shot a guys who had earlier shot up an apartment full of kids and the next day there were protestors (Peacefully Protesting) out against the cops for shooting the guy. It had the appearance that the only reason they were there was because the cops shot a black guy and did not consider the totality of the situation and the chance that, in fact, the guy deserved to be shot.
Minneapolis Mom Confronts BLM Protesters after Apartment Shooting: ‘Not a George Floyd Situation’

“This is not a George Floyd situation. George Floyd was unarmed. This is not OK,” Foss-Yarbrough launched at the protesters who gathered for a march and rally for the man on Saturday, according to the video. “He tried to kill me in front of my kids.”
I’d say its all the time.
Hi Chris, you are very funny, maybe a tad cynical?
The ceiling was cheating on her.
Love Field indeed…
Nice. If there is one thing i know about Texans it’s that they would rather get shot if you brandish a gun than disrespect it by putting it back peacefully.
Probably read Kyle’s post last year on how to check weapons on a flight and realized she needed to discharge it first.
Too soon?
Like any conservative city in America one has to use common sense and always be aware of your surroundings.
the deep south is well known for:
scientist and common sense…
Matthew, Let them express their criticism if that makes them feel better. Don’t even bother censoring them. Or just take out the REPLY option.
WELL, Love Field baby! Make cheating legal and guns illegal.
(Wikipedia; On November 22, 1963, United States President John F. Kennedy arrived at Love Field on Air Force One, and was assassinated in Dealey Plaza less than one hour later while his motorcade was traveling from Love Field to the Dallas Trade Mart and died at Parkland Memorial Hospital).
Serious question: if the police shoot you in the US, who pays the hospital bill?
The above article states she was holding a “shotgun”.
From what I saw on the video, she only used one hand to discharge the weapon.
Maybe it was a “handgun”?
Time will tell.
