Man Denied Boarding For Filming Check-In Agent

An Italian man was denied boarding on Wizz Air after the check-in agent caught him filming their conversation.

Denied Boarding For Filming Check-in Agent Inreacation At Counter

The passenger showed up without a boarding pass, claiming he had checked in on the Wizz Air app but the app had malfunctioned. But apparently he had not checked in at all. The check-in agent asked for a screenshot showing he had checked in, but the man was unable to provide one.

He was then asked to pay to check-in (a usual fee of European budget carriers) and did so. But it was then the check-in agent realized he was being filmed and flipped out, telling the passenger that he would not fly.

“So take your passport and go away! I don’t give a s**t!”

I’m not sure where this scene was filmed, but Europe is not the United States. There are strict data and privacy protections at play, including even the right to disappear (from online presence).

This Italian strikes me as a jerk…and a fool. I’m not opposed to filming to ensure accountability and in the US, I don’t believe any gate agents or flight attendants have any reasonable expectation of privacy in an airport or airplane.

But the whole “I checked in but the app was broken” excuse is more pathetic than the “dog ate my homework” and it just doesn’t pass the smell test. I know it’s nice to still be able to check-in at the airport and obtain a paper boarding pass, but those days are long gone with European budget carriers like Wizz Air. You need a boarding pass on Wizz Air, you are going to pay dearly for it…

And while this Wizz Air agent may have been better off just demanding the video be deleted and letting the jerk onboard, I do not blame him because it looked like some sort of clandestine camera was being used to film the encounter and the guy strikes me as someone looking for trouble, not reacting to poor service.

More and more people are getting used to cameras everywhere, but this whole interaction seems premised on a lie that the Wizz Air app malfunctioned. Yeah right…you check in for your flight and get a boarding pass. It’s simple. I’ve done it myself.

So I’m not feeling all that sorry here for the passenger denied boarding.

I can’t stand people who do that, regardless of whether it is legal or not. How would they like someone in their workplace, videoing them, critiquing their performance on social media?

On a somewhat related note: If I’m not mistaken… Lufthansa’s service desks has signage against recording their employees. Does anyone know if Wizz Air’s also do?

Is that Prague Airport? This bullying in form of recording and smearing people all over internet needs to stop. One thing is recording an interaction with an employe and anothercis showing this employees face. These peopel have lives outside work, its just not fair. This “Italian” is a piece of work (This is T1 for non Schengen flights…), he shouldnt have left his problem to the last minute…

Looks like this is a regular side hustle for the person taking the video. Here is a link to the stunt he pulled with Easy Jet and it has three parts…one where he apparently brought a skateboard (as his assistive device but got stopped by gate agent who requested him to pay for it, he refused, was unboarded from flight, leading to him contacting the manager for customer service and paying them around 300 pounds i think, and then opening up emergency exit and running down ramp to the aircraft where he got stopped again by ramp agents and finally let in.

Part 1 – https://www.tiktok.com/@matmora/video/7282733190580686081 (for trying to take a skateboard that was over the allowed size for Easyjet and subsequently unboarded)
Part 2 – https://www.tiktok.com/@matmora/video/7285374377170947329 (him trying to contact the manager and manager agrees to board him and the person claims that he had an accident and cant run or walk long distances but runs in the video which i guess is a short distance and then opens up emergency exit to the ramp and being stopped by the ramp crew
Part 3 – https://www.tiktok.com/@matmora/video/7286160463371570434 (looks like he was able to get on the flight after intervention from the manager who approved of his boarding)
