An Italian man was denied boarding on Wizz Air after the check-in agent caught him filming their conversation.
Denied Boarding For Filming Check-in Agent Inreacation At Counter
The passenger showed up without a boarding pass, claiming he had checked in on the Wizz Air app but the app had malfunctioned. But apparently he had not checked in at all. The check-in agent asked for a screenshot showing he had checked in, but the man was unable to provide one.
He was then asked to pay to check-in (a usual fee of European budget carriers) and did so. But it was then the check-in agent realized he was being filmed and flipped out, telling the passenger that he would not fly.
“So take your passport and go away! I don’t give a s**t!”

I’m not sure where this scene was filmed, but Europe is not the United States. There are strict data and privacy protections at play, including even the right to disappear (from online presence).
This Italian strikes me as a jerk…and a fool. I’m not opposed to filming to ensure accountability and in the US, I don’t believe any gate agents or flight attendants have any reasonable expectation of privacy in an airport or airplane.
But the whole “I checked in but the app was broken” excuse is more pathetic than the “dog ate my homework” and it just doesn’t pass the smell test. I know it’s nice to still be able to check-in at the airport and obtain a paper boarding pass, but those days are long gone with European budget carriers like Wizz Air. You need a boarding pass on Wizz Air, you are going to pay dearly for it…
And while this Wizz Air agent may have been better off just demanding the video be deleted and letting the jerk onboard, I do not blame him because it looked like some sort of clandestine camera was being used to film the encounter and the guy strikes me as someone looking for trouble, not reacting to poor service.
More and more people are getting used to cameras everywhere, but this whole interaction seems premised on a lie that the Wizz Air app malfunctioned. Yeah right…you check in for your flight and get a boarding pass. It’s simple. I’ve done it myself.
So I’m not feeling all that sorry here for the passenger denied boarding.
Czech customer service in a nutshell (disclaimer, I’m Czech :D)
I can’t stand people who do that, regardless of whether it is legal or not. How would they like someone in their workplace, videoing them, critiquing their performance on social media?
I encourage people to to that for all government workers..
