Emirates’s new 777-300ER first class product is easily the best first class hard product I have ever experienced. My flight was fabulous and far too short.
Last week I flew from Dubai to Brussels aboard Emirates’ latest first class product. Award space opened at the very last-minute and I quickly grabbed it. The chance to experience Emirates’ latest first product, even on a short(er) 7-hour flight, was too great to pass up.
The cabin is magnificent, with six fully-enclosed suites in a 1-1-1 configuration. Each suite is spacious with an extremely comfortable seat, huge screen, and plenty of personal controls.
I certainly like the latest phones and computers, but I would never call myself a tech guy. But I loved the features in this suite, like the ability to change the color of the mood lighting or set the cabin temperature with the push of the button. I loved how responsive the IFE system was, controlled by both a tablet and wireless remote. And I loved how fast the internet worked…32MB/S down, which is simply revolutionary on Emirates.
With the cabin only booked 4/6 and two-dedicated flight attendants plus the purser, service was extremely personalized and very professional.
I began the flight with a small continental breakfast, slept for a few hours (I had to test out the bed), and then enjoyed a multi-course feast. It’s asparagus season in Germany and I enjoyed a delicious plate of white apasargus as my main course (plus caviar, soup, salad, cheese, and dessert). Food was tremendous on Emirates and I loved that there was not only Dom Perignon champagne, but Dom Rose as well.
CONCLUSION
I used the same “wow, wow, wow” when I flew Air France in first class for the first time but think this product exceeds Air France in many aspects.
You might ask, what about Etihad? It is true that the A380 first class “Apartments” on Etihad are a bit roomier, but they are not as comfortable nor technologically advanced.
Stay tuned for a full review of this amazing flight.
boarding via stair way?
After a 12-minute drive to a remote stand! Pretty gehetto…
Same thing happened to Lucky when he did DXB-BRU.
takes the luster off of a fine trip
I enjoy being outside with the airplane because it is a different experience than the normal routine—I don’t get much time face to face with a flying behemoth. Same thing with driving around the airport to a remote stand, just a different perspective so I like it.
I also didn’t mind.
One advantage Air France does have is, if you’re traveling with someone, you can dine together…I suppose that’s one of the knocks against this first class, but if you’re traveling solo, it wouldn’t be an issue…
Can you keep the binoculars?
Nope. They were collected prior to landing. I wish I could have kept the Bowers & Wilkins noise-cancelling headphones. They were simply amazing.
Glad to see you had the caviar, it’s the best in the air, bar none. I do agree with Aaron FC on AF especially the new version is I think almost equal more so with the airport “experience” arriving in Paris and changing planes.
Just saying
Oh, I’ll argue that both Air France and Lufthansa offer a better overall product due to the ground experience, but in terms of in-air experience, I do think Emirates does almost everything right.
Would love to try it. I absolutely love apartments even though a lot of people disagree.
I love Etihad Apartments as well, I just found the bed uncomfortable and did not like the underseat luggage storage.
I think whoever mentioned Etihad, that he or she was referring to comparing this to their Residence. As nice as Emirates’ new first class is, nothing beats The Residence on Etihad.
Was very disappointed in it. Uncomfortable chair when sleeping, feels like a dentists chair. No wifi, heating not working, TV kept failing, and noise with crew chatting all night. Overrated in my opinion
Lol, It did feel like a dentist’s chair, but why is that a bad thing?
But no dedicated caviar spoon. Such a travesty
😉
I know. Talk about criminal! 😉
I Don’t think the wooden flooring is a good idea, combined with the stewaresses high heals walking up and down all night!! = annoying!!
Wearing jeans in “first class”?? Mon dieu !!
These are real suites. US carriers should not be allowed to call their offerings “Suites”. I don’t have an issue with what the US carriers offer. Just with what they call them.
Those center seats would creep me out. Artificial windows or not.
