This Isn’t the Way to Advertise Business Class, EVA!

I recently published a resoundingly positive trip report from a flight in EVA Business Class from Amsterdam to Taipei. Other than a 2hr delay leaving Amsterdam, the flight experience was spectacular.

As I stated in my report, EVA has an outstanding product. Nevertheless, many are unfamiliar with it. I still get clients who refuse to fly it. And I never understood why. Until now. Perhaps…

When I am unfamiliar with something, the first thing I do is google it. Google EVA Business Class and you’ll reach the carrier’s official page. But look at EVA’s own pictures of business class and you’ll be left wondering what kind of an airline EVA is.

EVA doesn’t help by labelings its business class by three different names:

  • Royal Laurel = 777-300
  • Premium Laurel = 747-400 + A330-200
  • Business Class = A321

If you’re looking for EVA Business Class, how should you know what Royal Laurel Class or Premium Laurel Class is? You’ll just click on business class.

It’s like a meme waiting to happen!

Here’s my take.

Picture One – “That food looks good. Too bad they only served me coffee!”

Picture Two – “That’s my telephone number I’m pointing to with my green pen.”

I mean, perhaps I’m being harsh but these pictures…they give Air India a run for the money!

    I think it’s great. The more people stay away, the more seats available for award bookings for those who know better. There are a few airlines like this I can think of.

    Well, the text below the picture on their web site says A321, making it pretty clear its short-haul – and the onboard product is in line with US “First Class”, nicer than short-haul in Europe and apparently better food than either!
    I do agree that those marketing terms are annoying – whether it’s Laurel or Polaris or Royal Silk!

    I thought I was the only one thinking their Premium Class marketing is rather….awkward and uninformative…
