My quest for great coffee takes us to the Society Islands, specifically to the capital of French Polynesia, Papeete, on the island of Tahiti, where I found an excellent local coffee roaster.
Best Coffee In Papeete, Tahiti
Wherever I am in the world, I will seek out good coffee…even on vacation in a remote archipelago paradise.
First, a disclosure: the coffee at the InterContiental Tahtii was not great, my one complaint about an otherwise very fine property (the review of that resort will be the next installment of this trip report). That made it all the more necessary to seek out coffee and I found a wonderful café called Kaūa’a Coffee.

Inside, I was warmly welcomed in French by a friendly barista. I ordered a flat white while my wife ordered an iced Americano (it was quite warm outside). A wide assortment of pastries, sandwiches, quiche, and bottled soft drinks were available.
Looking around, I saw that the coffee was roasted on-site and various blends were available for purchase (I know what shop I would frequent if I lived on Tahiti…). Coffee machines were also available, including the Linea Mini by La Marzocco (my next coffee machine…) and several Breville/Sage machines.
The coffee was simply prefect…I tried both and the Americano was very refreshing, though I do prefer hot coffee even on a hot day.
If you’re in Tahiti, don’t miss Kaūa’a.
In tropical places , coffee is best during First few minutes after breakfast .
The quiche looks delicious, with the thin stretched crust. Yum.
As they say you put on fish hook what fish likes not fisherman.
In my opinion so frequent coffee posts on travel blog are not what fish likes…
I’m so excited your review is coming now as hubby and I head there this November to celebrate our 30th!. Also staying at Intercontinental Tahiti but going to the Intercontinental Thalasso in Bora Bor Taking notes!
