Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur: Great Location

I spent my third and final night in Kuala Lumpur at the Hyatt Centric City Centre, a reasonably-priced, centrally-located Hyatt hotel.

Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur: Nice Location, Cheap Price

While the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur was over 700 USD/night (I used points…), the Hyatt Centric was only 112/night. Since I’m leaving at 5:00 am to catch a 9:00 am flight and won’t even be able to enjoy breakfast, I decided not to splurge for an extra night at the Park Hyatt and moved over here.

The hotel is in the city center (not far from the Grand Hyatt) and within walking distance of the popular Bukit Bintang neighborhood. I was upgraded to a deluxe room with a balcony overlooking the city skyline, including the Petronas Towers.

The room was spacious, though the “open floor plan” with an open closet and sink all in the same room would not be my preferred choice.

This hotel has a small fitness center and pool, but no sauna or steam room, so that alone would make me book either the Regency, Grand, or Park properties if I were sticking to Hyatt (but again, it’s a cost-benefit analysis).

In terms of dining, the hotel has a very nice (and well-regarded) Italian restaurant called Il Forno (how original…) that I considered eating at (ultimately opting to eat elsewhere…) and a restaurant called TanBuri on the ground floor serving coffee and Tandori-inspired dishes.

I’ll share more photos and thoughts about this hotel in my full review, but bottom line: this is a nice hotel that is centrally located, though the amenities are more limited than the other full-service Hyatts in the city.

Sadly, I did not get to try breakfast and I suspect it would have been quite good. If someone has had breakfast here, please chime in with a comment below.

I’m sharing about my whirlwind trip through Asia.

In my experience, most large chain hotels in KL seem very good to excellent with great in-hotel restaurant food. There is often something interesting around most locations. Given a choice I prefer to spend my last hotel night stay near the main rail station (in this case KL Sentral) so I can take the express train to the airport (KLIA Express).

How is it in terms of accessability to the airport?

40-minute cab ride without traffic…can be much longer with traffic. KLIA is way outside of the city.

Take a cab to KL Sentral and then check in and ride the direct airport train from KL Sentral to KLIA. The morning and evening traffic in KL is nothing to sniff at. It usually takes 15 minutes from downtown KL to KL Sentral by Grab under bad traffic conditions.
