Pilots aboard two aircraft, including a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam, reported seeing a bright green unidentified flying object (UFO) near Newfoundland. What could it have been?
Bright Green UFO Over Canada Sighted By KLM Pilots
The sighting happened on July 30th over the Gulf of St. Lawrence near Newfoundland. Pilots from KLM flight 618 traveling from Boston (BOS) to Amsterdam (AMS) saw the mysterious object, as did pilots onboard a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport traveling from CFB Trenton, a base in Ontario, to Cologne, Germany. The object flew into a cloud, then disappeared.
According to the Canadian government, there was no impact to operations, but Steffan Watkins noted on Twitter that the military plane (called a CC-177 in Canada) “made a change in course and had climbed 1,000 ft when they reported seeing the UFO.”
Watkins asks:
“So, I would like to know if the pilot changed course to avoid it, changed course to see what it was, or if the swerve-like course correction was completely routine and just a coincidence.”
Meanwhile, the KLM flight made no change in course.
Oh, no biggie. One of the #RCAF #OpAEGIS flights, #CFC4003, and a KLM airliner #KLM618, saw a UFO in Canadian airspace. Cool cool cool. https://t.co/tEc1YBH2TB pic.twitter.com/jv5hHjJ7IQ

A spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Air Force told the UK Daily Mail:
“The crew saw something in the air, and reported it to NAV Canada as per standard procedure, before carrying on with their mission without further incident. While it is not known what they saw, there was nothing to indicate that it posed any kind of security concern or posed a safety risk to the aircraft.”
The object may have been a meteor. The sighting occurred during the Perseid meteor shower, which peaked this week but had already begun on July 30th.
CONCLUSION
As much as I love science fiction, I strongly doubt that aliens walk among us. Still, when two pilots, including a KLM pilot, observe a mysterious green object, I do want more details. While it was probably just a meteor, it was certainly something…
I suspect Glycol leaking from the hydraulics.
A meteor? Nonsense. Tgey would dissaoear in a split of a second and doubt they will be glowing green.
