Last night I was at the German Embassy in Washington to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Deutsche Wiedervereinigung (German Reunification).
The speeches, music, conversations, and delectable German food and drink were all wonderful, but being the airline geek that I am, something else captured my attention: a tent in the gardens with a sign saying, “WIN TWO FREE TICKETS TO GERMANY ON LUFTHANSA.”
Inside, an 8-section (not to be confused with Section 8) model of the Berlin Wall constructed of styrofoam was set up on a table and participants were given three balls to attempt to “knock down the wall”. Those who knocked down four down sections of the wall were given a prize bag, one of which contained the two Lufthansa tickets to Germany.
I did succeed in knocking down four sections of the wall, but I’m sad to report that I won’t be going to Germany on Lufthana’s dime. All I got was a picture frame…
Nonetheless, I had fun. I also just had my iPhone, so I apologize for these poor quality pictures:
I look for forward to winning the tickets
