Live and Let’s Fly Weekend Digest: February 4, 2017

Matthew Klint Posted onFebruary 4, 2017 Leave a Comment

This week was the clam before the storm. I spent most of it caring my sick wife and sick son (flu, cold). Then I got sick, though thankfully it was just a 48-hour sore throat and I’m back to feeling great. Next week there will be both Pacific and Atlantic Ocean crossings. The following week another round-the-world trip. Thus, spending time at home this week — even with the sickness — was appreciated.

In looking at the top stories of the week, I notice that people tend to like negative things, judging by the traffic of the four posts below. I try to include at least one trip report post each day to make this blog an escape from the mundanity of life, but perhaps I should focus less on aspirational and more on atrocious!

TOP STORY: The Worst Business Class Meal I’ve Ever Had

Nasty United Meal

Sandwiches can be a great thing onboard a plane — but not this one. As I described it–

The sandwich was ice cold, like it had not just been refrigerated, but frozen. The beef was tough and tasteless. The cheese was like rubber. A side salad was simply a few large leaves of iceberg lettuce with no dressing drizzled in bland couscous. The bread was stale. Even the grapes were not sweet.

Caution: Lots of Phantom SWISS Award Space on United

SWISS Award Space

A lot of SWISS space has been showing up lately on united.com. Some of it is real, some of it phantom. Also read about how you can protect yourself against this phantom space.
