My reward for flying Lufthansa Economy Class was a steak lunch in the First Class Lounge.
Part of the “deal” for me to fly economy class was that my business partner would guest me into the first class lounges in Los Angeles (LAX) and Frankfurt (FRA).
The Star Alliance First Class Lounge at LAX isn’t much, but I do appreciate the a la carte menu, which has changed from my last visit:
We arrived too late to order anything and how could I have eaten anyway knowing what a culinary delight awaited me in Lufthansa Economy Class…
After landing, we proceeded to First Class Lounge in the A gates area and each enjoyed a wonderful filet mignon cooked medium rare with French fries, salad, and strawberries after the meal.
I had also held off on drinking anything onboard in anticipation of a glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice and a cappuccino. They were lovely.
First class lounge access makes the economy class flying experience much more bearable. My only regret was not having a more substantial meal in LA prior to the flight.
So what’s the point? If you’re flying in economy class without status, fly with a friend who is in first class or has status so that you enjoy the premium cabin benefits on the ground. 😉

I’m curious why the lounge menu references dehavilland, piper, cessna and the B-2 instead of including Bombardier and Embraer when Lufthansa flies models of both.
That’s the menu at the Star Alliance lounge, not Lufthansa F lounge.
I can’t imagine many commercial airlines flying any model of the B-2! I should think they just choose random planes to be cheeky. Reminds me of a movie-themed restaurant I went to. One of the options was the Sophie’s Choice sandwich :O Granted, it was in Zurich so…
I’m surprised they didn’t include Hughes on the menu! That would’ve fit the legacy theme better than Airbus.
My disappointment was that they didn’t use the B-2 as the name of their flatbread, given the shape of the plane.
Then they could have been alliterative with Piper Pasta.
Good job.
The HORROR of flying Y that far.
Tell me about it…
