Want to Work for Lufthansa? Now is Your Chance!

Matthew Klint Posted onFebruary 2, 2017February 1, 2017 4 Comments

Lufthansa Jobs

The Lufthansa Group plans to hire more than 3,000 new staff in 2017, including 2,200 FAs.

What Does it Take to be a Lufthansa Group FA?

For any Americans looking to join Lufthansa, the first requirement is (unsurprisingly) that you must be fluent in German. Here is a list of requirements that I have translated from German:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years (though applicants can 17 ½ years old)
  • Finished school education
  • Minimum height: 5’2″ (1.60 m)
  • Maximum height: 6’4″ (1.95 m)
  • “Reasonable” body weight
  • Good vision
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Passport without restriction, valid for at least 12 monthsLufthansa Casting
  • No visible tattoos and piercings
  • Ability to swim
  • Willingness to move near Frankfurt or Munich
  • You have not applied within the prior 365 days

Decent Acceptance Rate

Last year Lufthansa hired one of very three applicants, which is a much better rate than when Delta, United, or American hire new FAs.

All Eurowings?

German’s low-cost arm, Eurowings, is expanding fast but the majority of hires, 1400 to be exact, will be for Lufthansa’s Munich and Frankfurt hubs. Lufthansa FAs (even the new ones) are paid fairly and have a better chance at seeing the world than working for many airlines.

How Do I Sign Up?

The easiest place to sign up is to show up at to an upcoming casting call:

Salzburg, Austria
04 February 2017

Offenburg, Germany
18 February 2017

Bamberg, Germany
04 March 2017

Interviews start at 9am and no sign-up is necessary. Space is limited and on a first-come basis.

I Don’t Want to be a FA!

Check out be-lufthansa.com. While the bulk of new jobs are for flight attendants, there are jobs available in nearly every part of the Lufthansa Group.

Confession: I Secretly Want My Wife to be a Lufthansa FA

She’ll kill me for writing this, but I want my wife to be a Lufthansa FA. And my reasoning is totally selfish. Sort of.

Heidi was offered a Lufthansa FA position once. She was in the midst of earning her bachelor degree and turned it down. Perhaps the door has closed, but I think my wife would look sexy in one of those round Lufthansa FA hats and I think she would be a great FA.

And the real reason: our family is traveling to Germany at least three times this year, maybe four. It sure would be nice to go non-rev!

Of course she is a mother now with and we live in Los Angeles, but somehow, someway, I’d love to see her do a couple trips per month. I’m open to living in Frankfurt again. Or perhaps I’m just the one who wants to fly around the world and get paid for it…

I can relate. I’ve tried to talk my spouse into it also – without success. Now I’m trying to get my kids to become pilots.

I’m lucky enough to have a flight attendant wife. I’ve already told her she can never, ever quit!

You forced to omit any tenet in being a “dieter” or having to “yield load” and as an alternative imagine a brand-new paramount thinking in the temper of a fit, healthy body.
