I raved about the food in this Priority Pass Lounge last week, but will provide details here on the entire lounge experience at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Rome Fiumicino (FCO).
The lounge is open 24/7, though there are no sleeping accommodations that I noticed. Even so, it’s nice to have this option if you ever get stranded at FCO and don’t feel like venturing out to a hotel. You’ll find the lounge on the upper level of Terminal 3 in the Non-Schengen area. Technically, your card only entitles you to a three hour stay. But the lounge is so large (and was so crowded during my four hour stay) that I’m not sure that rule is closely enforced.
You might recall I spent the morning and part of the afternoon in this lounge after an extended EasyJet delay. I was exhausted and found a little room off to the side, with two couches. I went inside, closed the door, and took a glorious two-hour nap. When I woke up, I went to get some food but upon returning to the room was informed by an overweening lounge staffer that I would need to “pay extra” to enter that room. Oh, okay. I gathered my bags and headed out, thankful for the nap I had enjoyed.
The lounge has plenty of seating–even a few couches–though the rest of the lounge was quite crowded.I first settled in a little cubicle, but then moved to a table so I could spread out with my laptop and lunch.
Plaza Premium Rome (FCO) Dining
And I certainly enjoyed a wonderful lunch. It began with salad and was followed by wonderful spinach cannelloni and meatballs. That was followed by a made-from-scratch cheese pizza (custom-order pasta is also available). I finished the meal off with a cappuccino. All food is complimentary
The lounge has a cold buffet and hot buffet. The cold buffet, located near the bar, includes salad, veggies, and olives. In the morning, a selection of cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, and cereal is also available. Dessert as well, including an Italian bunt cake and fruit tart.
When I first arrived in the lounge, the hot breakfast buffet was still serving breakfast. That included scrambled and hardboiled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and spinach.
The lunch buffet included the items above that I enjoyed (cannelloni and meatballs) as well as breaded zucchini, rice, and roasted potatoes.
On beverages, soft drinks, water, coffee, wines, and beer are free of charge. Cocktails and top-shelf does incur a fee.
Plaza Premium Rome (FCO) Restrooms + Showers
Restrooms and showers are available. The showers were occupied, so I do not have any pictures.
CONCLUSION
This is a solid lounge at FCO and far better than the alternate “Passenger Lounges” for Priority Pass cardholders. I walked away with a great nap and full stomach.
