Review: Deutsche Bahn (DB) Lounge – Stuttgart

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 19, 2016November 14, 2023 Leave a Comment

After our wedding, Heidi and I honeymooned in Paris. We traveled from Stuttgart to Paris in TGV First Class and were granted access to the Deutsche Bahn (DB) Lounge prior to our departure.

DB has first class lounges at the following train stations:

  • Berlin Hbf
  • Bremen Hbf
  • Dresden Hbf
  • Düsseldorf
  • Essen Hbf
  • Frankfurt/M. Hbf
  • Frankfurt/M. Flughafen Fernbahnhof
  • Hamburg Hbf
  • Hannover
  • Köln Hbf
  • Leipzig Hbf
  • Mannheim Hbf
  • München Hbf
  • Nürnberg Hbf
  • Stuttgart Hbf

Hours generally range from 7am – 10pm, though some stations are open a bit earlier or stay open a bit later. Access is granted for first class passengers and those holding elite status in the bahn.bonus program.

I printed our rail tickets from our hotel, so we proceeded directly to the lounge. Though traveling on a French-operated TGV service, we were welcomed into the DB lounge as first class passengers.

The lounge was small with a reception desk, restrooms, a seating area, and a work area.

It was a warm summer day and the lounge was sultry. Bright light streamed in and palm trees gave the room an almost greenhouse feel.

Hot and cold beverages are available on a complimentary basis. No other snacks are available for free or purchase. A selection of newspapers and magazines is also available.

Wi-fi provisioned by T-Mobile is complimentary and relatively fast.

Honestly, the lounge is not worth getting to the station earlier for. Yet if you are early or encounter a delay, it is a comfortable place to wait. Clean, free bathrooms are a big advantage over those onboard or in the station.
