I did a bit of tourism during this trip to Bali, including a visit to Tegenungan Waterfall. While somewhat commercialized, I still really enjoyed spending some time at the base of the falls.
Tegenungan Waterfall: Worth A Visit When In Bali
The waterfall is located in Kemenuh Village on the Petanu River in the Gianyar Regency, north from the capital Denpasar and close to Ubud.
Your driver will park in the little village outside town where merchants offer souvenirs, food and drink, and local craft. At the enetnrace to the falls, you can then purchase a ticket for 20,000 Indonesian rupiah, about $1.30 (the rupiah has weakened…).
Inside, it feels more like you are in a resort park than somewhere in nature. That’s not to say it was not picturesque or even beautiful…it was…but you will be surrounded by restaurants and bars and face big crowds. The bars and restaurants have their own pools, which overlook the falls.
Look up and you’ll see a suspension bridge with a glass floor that you can pay extra to walk across.
You will make your way down several hundreds steps from the entrance to the base of the falls.
And it’s worthwhile. Certainly, it is worth the couple bucks it takes to get in. I realize I’m not doing a great job of selling it, but I’m not trying to sell anything…I’m just saying that I wanted to see a waterfall during this trip to Bali and this one proved most convenient. I suspect there are some great ones more in nature that would probably be more picturesque and have less people, but this is by no means a bad option.
Next stop: Pura Tirta Empul
Nice abs. I wish I could lick them.
You’d think with all that food he enjoys on airplanes he would be Fat!
I wanna do him so badly!
Been here before and enjoyed it.
Yeah, the last picture took me by surprise 😀
Like a mini Vang Vieng…
Dude you put some time in the gym looks like. What’s your workout?
Intermittent fasting between 2100-1300 when home (except for coffee in morning). High protein, low carb diet (at least 120 grams of protein per day and I really should eat more). Lots of greens, but I also eat fruit (carbs). No more candy. Very little alcohol.
Workout six days per week. Upper, lower, upper, lower pattern with 15 minutes of cardio at the start and sauna at the end.
Pretty cut bro
Ha!
I was buying your “I’m not trying to sell anything” spin until I got to the last pic
Dude, you look great in that last photo! So handsome and what a great body!
I wasn’t going to comment about the bathing suit photo … until I read the other comments. Suffice it to say that now your ravenous appetite for airplane food and airport lounge food is understandable. Enjoy it while you can, (unfortunately) it catches up with many people at a certain age. While it’s likely you exercise regularly and eat well otherwise, be sure to thank your parents for the (obviously) good genes 🙂 !
I know that this may become harder as I continue to age…I am trying to lay the foundation now for a healthy lifestyle such that even if the metabolism slows down I can continue to keep the excess weight off.
I know it seems like I eat like a pig when I travel, but I can do a day without eating at home. Even within my eating window I am often not hungry and sometimes I will do extended fasts, which I think are quite helpful:
IF and low sugar is really a great combination if you want to lose weight and not be hungry.
Visited those falls in November. Similar experience. Loads of tourists and a bit over the top but still beautiful. People are happy and enjoying a splash. Makes for a good 90 min trip.
Did white river rafting down the road which was really fun and beautiful.
