During my one-night “layover” in Bali, I decided to try the Studios at Alila Seminyak. That turned out to be an excellent choice.
From Denpasar Airport, the ride to the hotel took about 30 minutes with late-afternoon traffic. This was my first visit to Bali and I really had no feel for the many enclaves and neighborhoods that make it such a unique place. I wrote about my overall thoughts on visiting Bali here, so my focus now will be Studios at Alila Seminyak.

The nightly rate was $178 + tax or 5,000 points (Category 1 property). Since I value Hyatt points at two cents each, I used points to pay for my stay.
You’ll find the Studios about a quarter mile from the Alila Seminyak resort. My driver dropped me off at the Studios lobby, but I was informed I would need to check-in at the main resort. That’s annoying, but a golf cart was waiting to drive me there. Golf carts are available to take you between the Studios and main resort.
Studios at Alila Seminyak Check-In
Upon arriving at the main resort, I was asked to sit down in the lobby. An associate brought over some tea and a cold towel and then requested my passport. She returend with my room key and a credit card machine. After recording my credit card information, I was escorted back to a waiting golf cart to take me to my room.
The lobby, by the way, revealed what a beautiful resort this was.
Studios at Alila Seminyak Guest Room
True to definition, my room was just like a spacious studio apartment, just missing some kitchen appliances. There was not much of a view from the room, but the afternoon sunlight streaming in provided great natural light.
The bathroom included dual sinks, a shower, and separate water closet, but no bathtub. Alila-branded toiletries and bottled water were present.
The bathroom also included amenities a shaving kit, dental kit, and comb.
Several welcome gifts were waiting for me, including a bowl of fruit, special bowl of berries, some sweets, and a sponge-like cake with sun-dried tomatoes and olives.
I am convinced that there is a “guest loves berries” note on my profile, since these berry bowls pop up at Hyatts around the world.
Studios at Alila Seminyak Resort Access
Studio guests have access to the main resort. The Studios have a private pool, which is actually a far better option if you want to avoid the crowds.
But you won’t have the beautiful view you have at the main resort.
The main resort property also has a nice fitness center and spa.
Studios at Alila Seminyak Breakfast
Breakfast at Salt restaurant (again, at the main resort) really exceeded my expectations. It was complimentary, as a Globalist member, and included a large buffet with great coffee, fresh-pressed juices, eggs made-to-order, and additional a la carte items.
Service was slow and not overly-friendly, but the restaurant was very crowded. The beach views were beautiful.
Studios at Alila Seminyak Pizza
On the ground level of the Studios is a pizzeria called Flat Stanely. During happy hours (4-7PM), pizzas are half off. The flatbread pizza was wonderful and the price made it a perfect appetizer.
I thought this was a hotel restaurant since it is literally built into the first floor of the hotel, but when I asked to charge the pizza to my room I was told that the restaurant was not a hotel entity.
The Studios at Alila Seminyak were perfect for a one-night stay. For longer stays, I would want to stay on the main resort property, but the Studios were perfectly acceptable and a great value at 5,000 World of Hyatt points per night.
