A Day In The Life Of A US Air Force Flight Attendant

Air Force Flight Attendant

What is it like to be a flight attendant for the military? Let’s take a look at a well-done vlog of a US Air Force flight attendant and what a duty day looked like, with a focus on meal preparation.

US Air Force Flight Attendant Vlog Shows What The Job Of Cabin Crew Onboard

Start by watching the video below, which recounts a day in the life of Frassix, an Air Force flight attendant.

A few comments:

  • Well done, Frassix…this was an enjoyable video and offered new insight into the life and job of a USAF flight attendant
  • I’m frankly surprised that personal video of this nature is allowed… especially if his channel is monetized (not that I have a problem with it…I think it’s great and salute this entrepreneurship)
  • It’s interesting how much autonomy he seemed to have in terms of what he served onboard and also the manner in which he catered the flight…himself. For a bureaucracy as large as the Air Force, I pictured a Gate Gourmet-style catering operation, but on the contrary, it seems to function more like a private jet
  • We tend to think military = soldiers (Airman in this context), but this video reminds us that someone has to feed soldiers and political leaders…and this too provides a vital service to the military and is no less indispensable than the other roles
  • The food looks…okay? I guess for airplane food I’d certainly take it over whatever United is serving 😉

That guy is gayer than creepy homosexual Ben Schlapig, his twink, and the points guy at an orgy in a castro bathhouse during pride month with an extra helping of gay.

What a horrible, hateful, prejudicial posting here. Matt, this needs to come DOWN. Chi, you are a total A’HOLE. This epitomizes what refer to as … ‘UnSocial Media.’

@Joel S Avgeek: I’m considering removing it because I think Chi is trolling more than being serious here. I like to leave comments up, but I agree that this may cross the line.

Chi, it’s not about being triggered, but it’s about attacking someone unnecessarily and for apparently no purpose but to be mean. Why? You can make the point that this dude is clearly gay (not sure why it matters) without attacking Ben or TPG.

Do be careful Matthew. You risk taking a dark turn down a slippery slope by acquiescing to cancel pigs over a joke.

I’m inclined to leave your comment, but I just don’t understand the attack against Ben other than to be mean.

I don’t do it to be mean, I do it to be funny, and I know at least SOME readers here appreciate it. He’s a public figure in the travel world and somewhat of a goofball, so why not? He probably won’t even read it anyway.

I understand your distaste for my sense of humor, it’s not for everyone I know, and I certainly appreciate you tolerating it. A lesser man would have given in to the cancel pigs long ago. I often say politically incorrect things here, and to your credit you tolerate it, even though you obviously dislike it – the gay jokes, the naked disdain for children and the overweight, the frequent sexual passes at you, etc.

Despite appearances, I have a lot of respect for you because of that. I would however understand if you deleted the comments since I know you’re trying to run a clean show as well.

What a perfect case of reaction formation (with your intelligence level, you’ll have to look up what that means) but don’t worry, I doubt Frassix would want to be anywhere near you and certainly, he wouldn’t find you attractive.

Oh he certainly would my friend. He’s a potato queen if I’ve ever seen one. I have a sixth sense for these things that has never failed to achieve results, if you know what I mean.

I think this comment is inappropriate. But I do acknowledge there seems to be a disproportionate number of homosexual men in the travel business. I suppose traditional hetrosexual men are more likely to have a wife and kids and thereby not have the time to be a travel or aviation blogger. The exception seem to be independently wealthy bloggers (Zach Griff at TPG clearly has money outside his writing gig) or have day jobs that allow them to work remotely and do blogging as a hobby or side hustle (JT Genter and Gary Leff).

“Jokes” at other people’s expense are not jokes. This young man was happy to share his work and you have to ruin it with middle school comments.

I enjoyed the video. Frassix rocks. The Naval Academy also has a similar presentation about feeding the 4,000 Midshipmen from scratch, together in one dining hall, 3 times a day. Once they’re deployed, it’s a little different.

I am shocked that the Air Force doesn’t at least use a military kitchen or military contractor on flights departing a military base. The idea that a flight attendant is buying the food and literally preparing it is pretty shocking.

I am also extremely surprised to see skillets and slow-cookers being used on the airplane. I would think this is a fire hazard to say nothing of a potential food safety issue. Or do health codes for commercial kitchens not apply to the U.S. government? I remember my church getting nailed by the health department for cooking food in the parish hall kitchen for the homeless.

All that aside, what really shocks me is this flight attendant posting videos on YouTube. I was able to identify him in about 2 minutes thanks to name badges. Some of these flights would obviously be classified to some degree. I also cannot believe a soldier can bring a personal phone with them while on-duty and use it to record video that is uploaded to assorted social media, INCLUDING TikTok which is currently banned by the U.S. government.

@FNT Delta Diamond, glad that I’m not the only one with similar thoughts!

At first, my reaction was, “Oh, how funny, entertaining, and informational!” After that, I was like, “Wait a second, I have A LOT of questions.”

Does anyone know if skillets are in fact allowed by FAA regulations? While it seems great, it seems like a hazard and a potential food safety issue. I’m sure proper food handling, washing of hands or even sanitization of cooking spaces and surfaces between meal services can occur.

That aside, I’m tempted to report this flight attendant to the Air Force JAG. I can’t imagine this is allowed. Like I said, I was able to identify him in about 2 minutes using Google. Some of these videos were surely on sensitive or classified missions.

He’s clearly avoiding showing the passengers, which makes me think this is approved for release, and previewed by authorities to assure nothing confidential leaks.

The air force needs PR too.

Except he shows hotels they’re staying at. Military have contracts. So, for example, it’s a good bet that you can find U.S. military at the Sheraton in Stockholm, which he featured. He shows other personnel. Name badges are visible. You can easy find some of the people in these videos with simple Google or Facebook searches. He shows movements of planes. Some of these missions were surely classified. He’s also on TikTok, which is BANNED.

The problem with humans like “Chi” who think they’re funny and indulge themselves in this kind of pointless commentary is that it drives readers away. Readers like me.

I’m not American, so I could care less about any bs first amendment argument, yet, I support Matthew’s right to do whatever the hell he wants with his blog.

But I don’t have to like it or agree with it and I don’t.

I used to have a “sense of humour” like Chi’s when I was a teenager in the 80s. Now in my late 50s, I’ve grown and matured and the times have certainly changed.

I don’t find any of it funny. I think “Chi” is the absolute definition of a piece of shit and I’m tired of seeing his posts.

The easiest thing to do is just not follow Live and Let’s Fly any longer. There are plenty of travel blogs to choose from so I think I’ll just be on my way…..

You commented, which means you actually engaged MORE. Plus you’ll undoubtably be back to check if I or anyone else responded. You’ll also doubtless be back to the blog overall, having just wanted to get your old fart hissy fit out there.

@Todd, I am very happy to have you as a long-term reader and hope you will not stop reading and commenting here.

@Chi, I know how to get clicks on this blog…I can write a headline that will instantly draw thousands to this website. But it has taken 15 years to develop a quality core readership, the daily readers who leave insightful comments and make this blog a much more enjoyable endeavor for me.

If you’re just trying to be funny and don’t have a specific animus against me, please tone down the comments and make them more constructive. You are most welcome here. All are welcome. And you’ve shown over the years that you can offer many insightful comments. So just limit the attacks to me and we’ll all be happier!

The both of you should really lighten up. Do you think that I get all mad when I hear something I don’t like or feel offended?

How unhappy is life finding reasons to be upset about things people say? Do I try to get your comments deleted because you offend my sensibilities? You in particular little Aaron have no reason to feel kind given the nasty things you’ve said about Trump supporters. Yet I can laugh it off and move on with my life. That’s apparently beyond your abilities. Also, I’m gay too and don’t care if people say “homophobic” things.

          • Aaron
            September 11, 2024 at 6:09 am

Oh please. You giving out hate speech is offensive, people calling out hate speech isn’t offensive. Supporting equality isn’t offensive. The “nasty” thing I may have said about Trump supporters is calling them out for their bigotry and hatred.

And please none of this “I’m gay too so I can homophobic things too!” BS, you are not gay. You’re about as gay as Matthew is. Anonymous trolls claiming to be a part of the same marginalized group that they attack is a tired and true tactic of online bigots to try and get around them making their hateful comments.

Was bored tonight, so I visited your site for the first time in a few weeks. I used to be a daily reader, but the inane drivel in the form of both the clickbait posts as well as too many idiotic comments had turned me off. Unfortunately, this was one of the first comment sections I read on this visit, so I guess staying away was and will continue to be the right thing to do.
