I brought you pictures from this lounge the day it opened and a summary of my recent visit, but here’s a full review of the beautiful Air France Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Air France Lounge Los Angeles Review (LAX)
The Air France Lounge is one of five SkyTeam lounges at LAX (Delta has three [including its Delta One Lounge], Korean Air has one, and Virgin Atlantic has one).
Access + Hours + Location
This lounge is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), specifically in the Midfield Satellite Concourse (also called the west gates). Getting here is quite a walk. From the main concourse in TBIT follow the signs for gates 201-225, take the escalator downstairs, walk what seems like ages, then you can take the elevator up to the lounge level (4).
It is open daily from 9:00 am to 11:30 pm…at least that’s what the sign said.
However, when I arrived at 9:05 am I was told that “today we open at 10:00 am.”
Nice…
Maybe the lounge is dealing with the same understaffing that has characterized the entire service industry?
You can use this lounge if traveling on a SkyTeam flight in a premium cabin or while holding SkyTeam elite status:
- La Première (see below for the special first class section)
- Business Class
- Flying Blue Gold status
- Flying Blue Platinum status
- SkyTeam Elite Plus status
A guest is permitted unless you are traveling in business class without SkyTeam Elite Plus status.
This SkyTeam Lounge does not have a three-hour limit pre-flight: I arrived earlier than that for my SAS flight to Copenhagen.
Seating
Upon entering the lounge, you can turn either left or right for seating. To the left, you pass through the bar before coming to the main seating and dining area. Here you’ll not only find the buffet, but the bulk of the lounge’s seating capacity:
If you turn right, you’ll find seating and at the end of the corridor restrooms, showers, the Clarins spa, a quiet area, and the first class section (we’ll look at all those features below).
Note that power outlets (110-volt, USB-A, and USB-C) are plentiful and usually within reach. Some end tables have built-in USB-A outlets.
Food + Drink
I was very impressed with the food and beverage selection in this lounge, which includes a buffet, chef’s station, self-serve beverages, and full-service bar.
When I arrived, breakfast was served, including buttery scrambled eggs, crepes made to order, and fresh berries. There was also a selection of cheese and sliced meat, muffins, croissants, other pastries, and waffles. Beverages inculded coffee, tea, water, and fruit juices.
There was even “detox” green juice that is similar to what I made from scratch at home.
The afternoon selection included a trio of salads, beef bourguignon, salmon, root vegetables, and potatoes au gratin…all delicious and high-quality. Also crêpes and croque monsieur (a French ham and cheese sandwich).
The bar is fully stocked and complimentary. The Champagne on offer was from Beau Joie.
I enjoyed a Negroni.
There is also a beverage station with light bites on the other side of the lounge.
Spa
One of my favorite features of this lounge is the Clarins spa. Lounge guests can enjoy complimentary 20-minute treatments:
- detox time
- eye must
- jet-lag relief
Simply register using the iPad near the spa area (appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis). I did the jet-lag treatment, which was very refreshing. Spa treatments are available between 11:00 am and 8:30 pm.
Quiet Room
A dimly lit quiet area near the restrooms and spa offers comfortable chairs and even a chaise lounge to get caught up on rest.
Phone Room
A phone room is the ideal place for phone calls…please do not disturb others in the lounge. No one wants to hear about your personal business!
Restrooms + Showers
Restrooms (private suites) and shower suites are available. The showers also have toilets in them and utilize Clarins hair products.
La Première Section
First class passengers on Air France enjoy a special room with privacy and a la carte dining.
Service
The entire staff was friendly, but a special shout-out to Joel at the bar who was so gregarious and kind.
CONCLUSION
I quite enjoyed this lounge…it’s the best Air France Lounge I’ve ever been in outside of Paris. With up to four flights per day to Paris (plus two KLM flights to Amsterdam), such a lounge is appropriate and worth arriving a bit early for. I look forward to returning.
“The Air France Lounge is one of five SkyTeam lounges at LAX (Delta has three [including its Delta One Lounge], Korean Air has one, and Virgin Atlantic has one).”
I tbink you mean to say six lounges or five SkyTeam members who operate lounges at LAX.
The design of the lounge has a LH First Class Allegris vibe to it…and that isn’t an insult. It looks elegant and classy at the sime. Kudos to AF, I hope they renovate the rest of their out station lounges to look like this.
Apparently they’re renovating ORD as we speak, a bit surprising considering the large new Delta lounge in T5.
Interesting, as the lounge shut down years ago and never reopened. Will be also interesting what they can do with the limited space that lounge had.
It is usually interesting to learn that disabled people are forbidden because of the looooong walks . Easy way to prevent disabled people is to make the trek impossible . Airline assistants with wheelchairs will take one only so far .
What you said makes no sense. How does it apply to the AF lounge at LAX or at ORD?
@Aaron … How is it that in FRA , LH provides cars and drivers ? And AF at LAX and ORD do not ?
Those in need can request wheel chair assistance.
LH is operating in their own hub in FRA. AF only has out stations at LAX and ORD. Stop being so dense.
Joel is great!
Been waiting for someone to review this lounge. Thank you! Certainly looks like it beats the Korean and AMEX lounges in TBIT.
Which do you prefer – AF lounge or Delta One?
Definitely D1 lounge.
So, does this mean one can hit the D1 Lounge first, have a nice sit down meal, then schlep over to TBIT and have a spa treatment before hopping on the AF/KLM flight?
Correct. It’s a great plan.
Keep dealing with first world problems.
But in the real world:
“KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip (AP) — A mother pressed a final kiss to what remained of her 5-month-old daughter and wept. Esraa Abu Halib’s baby now weighed less than when she was born.”
You are pathetic for not calling Isreal a terrorist state under it’s current government.
If I was you I would just concentrate on first world problems and not post your simplistic views on what is going on in the real world.
Ma’am this is a Wendy’s
“Jane you ignorant slut!”
Never has something said almost 50 years ago been so appropriate.
Jane, really, you can’t even spell Israel right ffs.
@Jane, why won’t Hamas lay down its arms? The blood is on their hands. Shame on you for blaming Israel for what Hamas has done to its own people.
Are you also going to blame Hamas for what Israel is doing in the West Bank as well? Israel was doing to this to the Palestinians long before Hamas was even founded.
Also Israel snipering women and children in the head and staring millions of people has nothing to do with Hamas.
I view the whataboutism over the West Bank as a distraction. It’s a separate (and valid) issue, but it does not somehow justify what Hamas has done.
But you never seem to be upset about it at all. Nor does what happened with Hamas justify what is happening in the West Bank. Nor does it justify the genocide, starvation, ethnic cleansing, and forced removal of millions of Palestinians in Gaza.
Since the war began, Israel has allowed 94,000 truckloads of food into Gaza—enough to feed 2 million people for two years—while Hamas has profited $500 million from stolen aid.
You believe that nonsense?

AF also has one, if not two, daily flights to Papeete, Tahiti, as well. One which departs after midnight which I took recently. It departs after all the other flights to CDG. Great that the lounge is open that late for passengers of this flight. Great food!
Visited once last Dec. & twice more this month.
Beware of slamming doors, at the slumber room, showers & toilets.
Wines & champagnes available in the self serve fridge near the dining room, next to the cookies.
I see a tica en Hendricks but I don’t see Campari on the bar. What did they use for your negroni?
He had Campari under the counter.
Yes the service is diminishing in the USA. Because you keep deporting all the extremely hard working Latino workers!!!! All these maga Americans decrying Mexicans but not realizing they’re constant drink refills come because of these hard working underpaid people’s.
Are you sure about that access? I have SkyTeam ElitePlus (DL Platinum) and have tried to access the AF lounge both when traveling on AM on short-haul international and on DL domestic and was refused entry both times (and with a level of rudeness that might even make a Parisian blush!). I was told that they have no contract with either airline.
And to Jane, I pray that you have no children because it would sadden me to learn that you have actually passed that level of stupidity and hatred on to another generation of pondscum
Access only on international itineraries. But DL Plats traveling in coach should have access. Certainly for AM.
Interesting. Maybe things have changed. I tried shortly after they opened . I’ll have to try again. Both times I was refused I was traveling in paid F.
