Review: Alitalia Lounge Rome Airport

Matthew Klint Posted onOctober 11, 2017November 14, 2023 2 Comments

After spending a few minutes in the pre-security lounge, I cleared security and found the closest Alitalia lounge to my gate.

I had read about Casa Alitalia, Aliatalia’s new premium lounge concept, but the Alitalia lounge closest to my gate did not quite fit this description–

You will discover an elegant and comfortable environment — a new way of understanding hospitality, as if you’re in a private house.

In the fully renovated lounges, you will find a live cooking area, premium wines and other excellent Italian products.

Noting that Alitalia’s profit centers on its U.S. (and particularly New York) routes, you would think its flagship lounge product would be easily accessible from where the U.S. flights depart from in T3.

Anyway, the lounge is located next to the British Airways Lounge. It’s not that it was a bad lounge, just quite crowded and plain.

Coffee was exceptional, with two baristas on hand to make the drink of your choice.

Unlike the pre-security lounge, there was a greater selection of food including hot items like scrambled eggs and potatoes for breakfast.

Internet worked well in the lounge. I did not take any pictures of the bathroom because it was crowded, but it was quite small and there were no shower rooms.

CONCLUSION

If you’re flying out of Terminal 3 at Rome on Alitalia, the lounge is small and crowded. If you have extra time, check out the Casa Alitalia Lounge in Terminal 1 instead.
