AA Should Ban Profane Rapper, Not Rebook Him…

I know. It happens to the best of us. Tempers can flare when connections are missed. But responding in a fit of rage is never constructive. And responding with a profanity-laced tirade filled with threats and slurs should merit a ban, not a rebooking.

Rapper “Boosie BadAzz” (Torrence Hatch, Jr.) was traveling with his family on American from Jackson, Mississippi to Grand Rapids, Michigan via Charlotte. His flight from Jackson was delayed and he missed his connection to Grand Rapids.

Hatch took to Instagram to launch a graphic tirade against American Airlines and the gate agent in Charlotte who told him he had missed his connection.

a white background with black text and a hand pointing up

He captioned his “picture” like this (I censored it):

(American Airlines) The man who just refused to let me get on the plane with my kids IS a b**** a** hater. If I ever see you again I’m go spit n yo f****** face you b**** a** hater. The captain told you that we could be let on but you did not want us on because of your jealousy towards me .I MISS MY F****** POOL PARTY YOU B**** A** HOE . You jealous ,broke a** , p***y a**s , b**** a** f****t you deserve a bullet n yo f****** face you hoe a** RACIS (sic) B****. U look like a b**** a** mf . I BET YO KIDS suffer because of yo p***y a**. I BET THEY HUNGRY now cause of yo p***y a** .I HOPE I catch yo b*** a** out this airport one day u f*** n****. How did GOD let yo bitch a** live so long ? American Airlines is a f*** ship , THEY ALWAYS DELAYED , THE PLANES ALWAYS SHAKING, FIRST CLASS TREATMENT IS BULLS*** , THEY BARELY HAVE TVS ON THIS BULLS*** A** PLANE N THEY HIGH AS F*** ‼️ DO NOT RIDE AMERICAN AIRLINES Because u will not get to your destination on time n the people that work for this wack a** airline company have horrible attitudes .THEY RUDE A** F*** n this black b**** don’t even try n help a n***** after seeing this man f***ed over me n my kids ,SAD ASS BLACK UGLY B****S. I hope THIS N***** HATER Mhave (sic) a head on collision n die coming from yo airport job WITH YO pregnant wife n the car you P***Y 🖕🏽🖕🏽I HOPE U B*****S N THESE PLANES CRASH N BURN hope I see u n da streets p***y 👌 🙏🏼crash n burn hoes 🔥n if anybody got a problem with what I said SUCK MY D***K see me n the streets n say something.

Since this is a family-friendly blog, I will not tarnish this page with an uncensored look at what Hatch said, but you’re free to look here if you cannot figure it based upon my censoring above (warning: NSFW). Do note the slurs and threats in his statement above. It is more than just profanity…

Despite Hatch being among the most rich and privileged in this country, American Airlines must have decided that Hatch stood further along the intersectionality spectrum than their apparently black, female, lesbian gate agent. So nice that they give lip service to equal rights and take great care of their employees. Maybe the mechanics have a point…

Instead, American did not address his threats at all.

Mr. Hatch’s inbound flight from Jackson, Miss., to Charlotte, N.C., this past Saturday was delayed, and he arrived at the gate for his connecting flight to Grand Rapids, Mich., after the airplane door had been closed.

We immediately rebooked Mr. Hatch and his family for a later flight, which is our standard procedure for missed connections.

If anyone else threatened an employee like Hatch did, I suspect s/he would be arrested. So what really happened here? Let’s all stay woke, shall we…

CONCLUSION

For the life of me, I cannot understand why American would not publicly defend its gate agent here. If we give AA the benefit of the doubt, I guess it simply does not want to stoop to Hatch’s level and even engage with his jejune and narcissistic rantings. But the man wished death upon the gate agent, called her a host of derogative terms, and cursed her out. If someone talks to my employees in that way, they are no longer welcome in my business…

Agree. Surprised Instagram would love this either. What a class act.

Agreed. I don’t understand why it’s crazy easy to get booted from a flight these days but airlines will avoid banning anyone who isn’t a blatant security threat. If I was highly placed in AA, I’d refund his money and tell him to enjoy driving, since the airline doesn’t tolerate threats and abuse.

Ummm, there’s nothing remotely “”racist”” in what American did to this guy – they treat EVERYONE with the same contempt. In this way, they are anything but racist. I had a similar experience flying them last weekend and I look nothing like this rapper. He should be banned for life for not just the unnecessary profanity, but also for his BS of tossing out the race card for any and every perceived slight. It’s total crap.

Yes, lifetime ban for this vile creature. How sad it is that this pathetic excuse for music actually has listeners, evidently including some even prepared to pay $$$ for this moronic crap.

In all fairness, Grand Rapids was the place to be this past weekend and that pool party would have been lit!

Your post doesn’t say anything about his behavior in the airport, so I think a lifetime ban for an Instagram post is more than a little harsh. Nor would anyone else have been arrested for such a post and, if they were, the DA would be unlikely to pursue any charges because of the extremely low likelihood of proving a crime occurred beyond a reasonable doubt. North Carolina’s statute for communicating threats (potentially applicable since this apparently took place in the Charlotte airport), for example, contains an element that the threat must have been communicated by means and under circumstances such that a reasonable person would believe it likely to have been carried out. Maybe a bit of an overreaction here.

Once a thug, always a thug. I bet he was a disguting pig at the airport, just like he was on Twitter. Unless he’s just a passive-aggresive coward.

Reading this, I wondered how much was confined to the social post and how much vitriol occurred in person. Either way it’s déclassé to the Nth degree. But some of the in-person behavior I’ve witnessed from pax around the world (of all backgrounds: from college-educated white American men to Indian executives of both genders, to Aussie women of Asian descent) make me think that if we’re going to start banning passengers for profane hissy fits, airline yields are going to be hurting pretty soon…
