Great Coffee In Denver International Airport (DEN)

I had a brief layover in Denver this week and set out to find good coffee..and found it in Concourse A.

Great Coffee In Denver International Airport (DEN)

Concourse B is usually all I see at Denver because that is where the majority of United Airlines flights arrive and depart from. But the coffee selection is limited. There are Starbucks. No thanks. There is Caribou Coffee. No thanks.

But I noticed in the airport directory there was a coffee shop simply called Lavazza. Lavazza is a family-run Italian coffee company based in Turin. While not my favorite coffee, it sounded far better than any national chain.

I actually wasn’t even sure if it was open due to the pandemic, as many restaurants and even Starbucks were closed. I took the train one stop to the A Gates then headed to Gate A32. There I found it with no one in line.

I ordered a cappuccino and the friendly barista immediately went to work.

Pastries, drinks, and even bags of coffee are available to-go. I’d say the one disadvantage to this coffee shop is there is nowhere to sit. There are tables and chairs nearby, but those are roped off for the next door bar. Instead, I took my coffee to nearby seating area in a quiet gate.

The cappuccino was great…strong espresso and nicely-blended foam.

While I usually like to offer alternatives, I did not see any. I could not help but to laugh at the huge lines at Caribou Coffee. If they only knew what was a few gates away!

CONCLUSION

Head to Lavazza in the A Gate area of Denver International Airport for great coffee. You’ll really be glad you did!

What is your favorite coffee shop at DEN?

Matthew – La Colombe (local Philly brand) in all AA Lounges world-wide (including DEN) has to be my favorite. I know you’re a United guy, but give it a try if you haven’t!

I probably had enough cups last year to fully cover the annual fee on my Citi AA Exec card.

Hi Ben, I tired La Colombe in DC. It was tasty:

The changes to Concourse A have been amazing–have gone through there several times now. Better space, layouts, and far better coffee shops/eateries.

A has been improving, the new gates and outdoor area at B are amazing. Denver is definitely working to be a pleasant airport to fly through.

Matthew, keep the coffee reviews coming. And when our Covid situation has improved here in SoCal, consider coming back down to Moongoat Coffee in Costa Mesa for a fan get-together (socially distanced as necessary, of course).

That Lavazza has improved. Years ago when I flew out of A a lot it was my normal stop, not because it was good but to see what else could possibly go wrong. I had a string of like 5 visits where my order was wrong, they spilled it, and/or it tasted horrible.

Not sure they’re doing to-go, but on a future trip, checkout Root Down in C. Doesn’t look like a coffee shop but they have espresso drinks that are usually pretty good. It’s my go-to for a meal and cappuccino.
