Christoph Waltz Blames Lufthansa For His Refusal To Shave

Austrian-German actor Christoph Waltz is sporting a beard and he wants you to know: Lufthansa is to blame. Is this Lufthansa’s subtle way of nudging passengers to shift to trains for domestic travel?

Christoph Waltz Says His Beard Is A “Fierce Protest” Against Lufthansa

Waltz appeared on Bill Maher’s Real Time program on Friday and during his interview, was asked about his beard. After making a joke that as long as the ship was going down, he wanted to resemble the captain of the Titanic, he shifted to Lufthansa:

Waltz says Lufthansa lost his bag on a domestic flight and in protest, he is not shaving until Lufthansa reunites him with his bag. The flight was on December 16, 2022…

“In Germany, where you shouldn’t take the flight anyway because you should take a train for environmental reasons, but the train was canceled.”

That’s hardly a surprise!

Waltz actually looks pretty good in his beard…maybe Lufthansa should keep his bag a bit longer.

If you can’t follow the example of a two-time Academy Award winner, who can you follow?

Does the beard requirement extend to other Star Alliance carriers? I didn’t lose a bag on Air Canada yesterday, but I did lose some of my United MileagePlus points, which I assigned for my trip (and booked through UA) but haven’t been credited.

My train was cancelled, and instead of taking the next one, since money is no object to me, I decided to book a last minute airline ticket. Despite widespread reports of chaos at European airports and thousands of bags being lost/delayed, I chose to check my bag. Lufthansa didn’t realize how special I am and they lost my bag. I will grow a beard to protest them, but despite what I say on US television, I will continue to fly them because I don’t want to deal with all the gross poor people on LCCs and there’s no other way for me to maintain my HON status anyway.

He may be a successful actor, but otherwise he came across as a typical entitled Hollywood actor. Even Bill Maher (who is about as entitled as Hollywood can produce) looked uncomfortable during this interview. Friends of mine rented Christoph a cottage a few years back in LA, and couldn’t wait for him to leave. Total nut job.
