Citi to LifeMiles 25% Transfer Bonus Still Available

There’s still time to transfer Citi Thank You Points to LifeMiles with a 25% bonus until the end of the month and some opportunities to travel for less.

Citi Thank You Points Transfer to LifeMiles at a 25% Bonus

LifeMiles is a transfer partner with several credit card issuer currencies (Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Venture Points), and CitiBank Thank You Points. With this bonus, transfers earn a 25% bonus when arriving into one’s LifeMiles account. One of the most popular transfers is 124,000 LifeMiles for roundtrips in business class between the US and Europe. With this deal, a traveler would need only 99,200 LifeMiles.

This transfer bonus makes Europe in business class more or less a sweet spot of the entire Star Alliance for award travel with few competing on that pricing level. Many LifeMiles awards do not require the redeemer to pay fuel surcharges, adding to their value.

What makes this deal so attractive is that many cardholders are sitting on a significant number of Thank You Points from lucrative credit card offers and it doesn’t require any cash out-of-pocket to take advantage of the bonus, unlike other methods. This is one LifeMiles transfer bonus you won’t want to miss.

The Caribbean and Northern South America

A lot of content has been focused on using LifeMiles for the above trans-Atlantic trips but I find strong value in Caribbean and northern South American destinations. For example, standard rates on trips like Miami to Cartagena, Colombia typically cost 20,000 points, but with this offer, just 16,000 is needed with the bonus.

However, LifeMiles often runs award sales not just sales on the purchase or transfer of its points. Right now, there is excellent availability on New York JFK to Bogota with outbound flights as inexpensive as 7,500 points and return prices from 8,600 (16,100 total) bringing the overall cost after 25% bonus to just 12,880 LifeMiles or transfering as little as 13,000 Citi Thank You points.

LifeMiles conducts similar promotions so it’s a good idea to keep a balance – even a prospective one – in your LifeMiles account.

What I like the most besides the low price (made lower by the transfer bonus) is that these near-US trips are easy to take and even have weekend availability. For me, the greatest advantage of this hobby is the ability to pick up and go anywhere on a whim. With destinations just 3-5 hours from the US and prices this low, a weekend away is easy to obtain and can make all the difference.

One Week Left

For this particular bonus, there is just one week left (it expires April 30th, 2022) to take advantage of the transfer. The LifeMiles program sells miles usually offering bonus miles with those purchases but this requires no money at all for Citi Thank You Points holders. Transferred miles appear nearly instantly making this quick and easy to achieve before the deadline.

Many of us try to get the most value out of our points and this bonus helps enable that as well, but the freedom to just get on a plane for an otherwise unattainably low amount of points is too good to pass up.
