The term Aviation Enthusiast sounds so geeky, but I certainly count myself as one.
I’m the guy who will all of a sudden feel pangs of regret while sipping a cup of coffee in the morning because I recall I never flew the Concorde…
But I stumbled upon a YouTube channel today that I think is just great and that you’ll love to if you are an aviation enthusiast like me. It’s called Cloudsurfing and the premise is simple: pilots recording their journey from the flight deck then creating a hyperlapse video chronically their journey.
For example, here’s a great video of a summer flight from LA to Frankfurt on Lufthansa:
Here’s one of from Buenos Are to Frankfurt:
Here is the “first” video, a Condor flight from Mauritius to Frankfurt (taken from a passenger seat):
Finally, this video from Frankfurt to Sofia with a great view of gliding between clouds:
Over six years ago I wrote a post entitled Awesome Twilight Landing at LAX (a video I still love), but these ones are even better. As an added bonus (I have not watched them yet), the channel also includes 24 hours guides for many of the featured cities.
Ok, I just spent the last hour watching these videos. I’ll stop now…
I just killed an hour too…thanks for the link. That “Frankfurt to Sofia” video is pretty cool in that it shows a lot of air traffic as well (judging by the contrails)
