Man Dragged Off JetBlue Flight After Assaulting Flight Attendant

a woman with a mask on her face

In another savage incident of air rage, a man and his companion launched a foul verbal tirade against two JetBlue flight attendants after they were ejected from a flight over mask compliance issues. In the end, the man was dragged off the aircraft by an exasperated flight attendant.

Man Dragged Off JetBlue Flight After Verbally And Physically Assaulting Flight Attendants

Video begins with a man yelling at flight attendants and grabbing the arm of one and twisting it (the flight attendant artfully resisted). That’s clearly-documented, unambiguous assault. He was angry about being removed for not wearing his mask properly and reads the flight attendants the riot act, cursing them out for what he views as an unfair reaction. The man maintains that “I only got one warning” and complains that he fixed the issue when flight attendants confronted him.

A warning: the video is filled with filthy language:

Here it is from a different angle:

While the man is the pathetic star of the video, his companion suddenly appears walking up the aisle of the aircraft, also screaming about how they were unfairly treated. Dozens of passengers had cameras pulled out and were videoing the incident. She tells them:

“It fell down his face and we apologized and fixed it, but it wasn’t good enough for them.”

(she says a lot more as well, that I will not repeat here)

Folks, this is really bad behavior. I’m absolutely amazed at how well the flight attendants handled it. While I hope I could have handled it with similar grace, I felt like punching the guy in the face just watching it, especially after he twisted the arm of the flight attendant. Over three minutes of profanity is included in the video and it isn’t clear how long this went on before the camera started rolling.

I hope he is charged with assault, heavily fined for not observing the mask mandate, banned from traveling on future JetBlue flights, and faces some prison time to serve as a strong deterrent not to act this way again. It is not clear if alcohol or drugs are involved, but does it matter? The behavior is simply deplorable and EVEN IF HE WAS UNFAIRLY SINGLED OUT, there is no excuse in the world to justify the manner in which he speaks to the two flight attendants.

Was he really dragged off the plane? Not like Dr. David Dao, but he was forced to follow through the application of steady force. That’s the definition of dragging. It appeared he would have left anyway, but wanted to retrieve his belongings. However, flight attendants would not even let him step back into the aisle in order to do so. That was a wise choice: there is no telling what he would have done if back deeper on the aircraft.

CONCLUSION

Flight attenders really have a lot on their plate these days with idiots like this to contend with. I hope this guy and his companion have the books thrown at them.

What are people supposed to do when they are unfairly treated and abused by flight attendants? Are they supposed to cheer flight attendants and thank them? Though language is sometimes warranted. You are aiding and abetting the enforcement of draconian and ridiculous mask rules by standing up for foul flight attendants.

First, I find it interesting that you and “Adrian” both use the term foul to describe flight attendants. Why that term? And why post it twice? Secondly, you clearly have an issue with the mask mandate so as noobey says, don’t fly. Thirdly, and most importantly, you need to understand the role of flight attendants. Their number one job is to keep you safe during a flight and even more importantly in the case of an emergency. The fact that they serve you cocktails is incidental to the main reason they’re on your flight.

What happened to your right leaning folks always telling others to “just comply”. We’ve had it with 18+ months of you TINY minority of folks who yell louder, cry the most and just act like children. We’re done with it, don’t expect people to give you ANY leeway anymore. The time for nice is way over.

There are numerous warnings throughout the entire process about wearing a mask so there are plenty of warnings already given. Should *every* criminal be given a personalized warning first?

I’m conceited and very much self absorbed and demand personal attention. So yes, I prefer to be reminded to wear my mask and not listen to PA or general announcements. I fly coach for the personal touch of cramped seating and adore arm rest fighting.

The world wide pandemic since 2020 has destroyed civility on flights when everyone has a destination to look forward to. The very small uncivilized population of drunken or misbehavior hiding behind their disdain of masks mandates literally and figurative ruins a flight to an almost unforgettable beginning or ending of a flight marred by selfish individuals. Clearly when the male protester was prevented from boarding is a clear tactical move as he vented. This ended on a happy note as passengers cheered and applauded as the uncivilized left the cabin.

Well! As a Canadian Citizen this is never tolerated in these times on board. Lets see how Americans handle this type if behaviour. And those FA’s continued to allow this couple to remain on board with out masks!! Seriously? Where is your training on difficult behaviour? When people are allowed to abuse Crews and Passengers? It only will continue.

Airlines have in place or should by now, information about the precautions we take for pax safety during the pandemic. It’s mentioned on our websites, our media advertising, at the point of ticket purchase, our 2nd and 3rd party vendors who sell tickets, ANYWHERE you buy tickets or look for information concerning your flight, pandemic safety onboard our aircraft info is stated. It’s also printed in multi language formats. All a person needs to do is READ. I know that’s a bit of a stretch but just saying…..

I wonder if either of the couple were (or will be) charged and/or fined. Even if the airport police escort someone off a plane, it does not always lead to charges.

Apart from the mask incident, these people never need to fly again when they are clearly unable to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner on an airplane, or even have an adult conversation, no matter how upset they are. They appear intoxicated and out of control — all the more reason to give them the boot. This snowflake is whining about getting “only one warning?” How about zero warnings, chump. The federal guidelines are clear. People aren’t going to take these issues seriously until people start taking masking seriously.

No warning? Like the warning you had to agree to when you bought the ticket? Or the 2nd warning when you checked in at the airport kiosk or app? Not even mentioning any possible signage or announcements at the airport itself?

The federal government created a “No Fly List” why can’t the feds mandate that any incident like this requires that the airline report the person flying so that they can be added to the list? Let them then deal with trying to get off of it again.

They should be added simply because these few passengers are completely disrespectful of everyone’s time and freedom to get to their destination on-time and safely. The same thing applies to any violence at airports. People’s personal rights don’t supersede the rights of many people to travel safely and stress free. If you can’t be respectful of others and exhibit good and responsible behavior you can’t be trusted on this form of mass transport.

I’ve said it before and will say it again: any incident on a commercial aircraft or airport which involves assault – verbal or otherwise – should require a mandatory 14 day jail sentence and a lifetime ban from flying or setting foot in any airport in the United States. This stuff would clear up in short order. Unfortunately the clowndom that constitutes this administration hasn’t the political will to do anything meaningful, apart from the occasional press conference.

I love how those who are most indignant about being “mistreated” for an honest mistake (e.g., mask “accidentally” slipping below the nose, “forgetting” to put it back on after taking a bite, etc.) are the same people who are inevitably filmed sans mask in a shouting match being escorted off the plane.

It’s no accident. Whether you care for the mandate or not, if you had any semblance of attention to detail or intention to respect rules, you’d cover up better.

I understand the argument with a young child. I don’t with adults.

All of you people are destroying my environment. The masks don’t prevent shit and they are UNHEALTHY to wear for any length of time. The Airlines need to be grounded and the aircraft propulsion systems removed. They need to stay grounded until the propulsion systems can be replaced with systems they don’t leave a carbon imprint.
