I am careful to throw around the “best” adjective, but I cannot think of a better lounge breakfast than I had at the Delta Sky Club at LAX earlier this week.
If you know me, you know I love Mexican food. I could eat it every day of the week and still never get bored of it.
So when I saw huevos rancheros at the buffet, my eyes lit up. Take a tostada and heap on scrambled eggs with cilantro and black beans. Then add queso fresco, japlepenos, pico de gallo, and a spicy verde sauce. What a combo!
But not only was it visually appetizing, it tasted amazing. Truly amazing…better than many huevos rancheros I have ordered in restaurants or made at home.
And Delta had fresh strawberries and decent cappuccino too. What a treat!
Over the years I have enjoyed incredible breakfasts in lounges like the Lufthansa First Class Terminal, Singapore Private Room, and British Airways Concorde Room. This breakfast was better than all of them.
CONCLUSION
It’s almost like I suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. I love what doesn’t love me…SWISS First and Delta Sky Clubs…
But if you do find yourself in a Delta Sky Club and see this, don’t hesitate to try it.
Oh, how did I eventually get into the Delta Sky Club when I was denied access? Use your imagination…I had to think outside the box and it took me some time…the lounge staff never budged. Concerning that incident, as soon as I have a full response from Delta, I will post it. I am in contact with them.
Yuck.
The potato latkes and the duck eggs benedict in the United Polaris lounge in Newark is pretty good for breakfast…
Agree – good breakfast indeed. I’ll still take my Mexican food. 😉
Quite surprised to see a positive review of LAX skyclub beyond the free booze.
Let me suggest Sea skyclub, worth a gratuitous Sea stop over.
I’ve passed by it so many times, but always have a ticket on United or Alaska. One of these days I will try it.
I feel sorry for the person sitting next to you during the flight 😉
LOL
Ignore the haterz! That looks delish! I’ll take two, please!
My imagination is failing me…watched too much TV growing up, I guess. Imagining what someone else said, they guested you in with them
Looks great, but if the eggs are scrambled and the sauce isn’t cooked, then it ain’t huevos rancheros–no matter what the sign says. Here are better examples from the Food Network and Serious Eats:

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. True huevos rancheros means fried eggs. Though I prefer scrambled.
You had someone take you in a their guest…right ?
Exactly what I was thinking
Either that or PP.
Go to Istanbul Turkish lounge you see what the best breakfast and lunch is.
Yes indeed ,, it’s voted #1 lounge in Europe
Have you ever tried the breakfast at Turkish Airlines lounge in Istambul?
No doubt that is the best of all airlines.
“better than many huevos rancheros I have ordered in restaurants”
Which doesn’t say much about the quality of the restaurants you must have visited…
Cheers! From a hole in the wall in Texas south of Dallas having amazing red chilaquiles with the best guacamole for breakfast. Love the Mexican food reviews.
Everything looks good except for the plastic utensils.
Agree. I hate the plastic utensils.
Thanks Matthew. I just ate that wonderful breakfast in the LAX Sky Club. Without your post I would have missed it. Yum!
With most of my time at LAX Sky Clubs being in the morning, I’m so glad to see them move on from the boiled eggs. This looks like something that could hold you for a few hours. I saw this a couple weeks ago but didn’t go over to investigate. Shame on me.
