Another weekend, another trip.
I really do need a weekend to sleep and catch up on my hotel reviews, but I continue to take full advantage of my time in Europe to see other cities and countries at a fraction of the price I would have to pay coming from the United States.
Latvia is the only Baltic country I have not yet visited and if I waited much longer to go, the weather would have been too cold for this Angelino, not to mention the issue of limited daylight as we approach winter solstice and a time change.
Here’s a challenge for you: guess the routing I am flying. The only clue I will provide is that it will take me three flights to get to Riga.
FRA-MUC-WAW-RIX
FRA-TXL-WAW-RIX
One leg takes me outside of Europe.
Ok nice little game Matthew.. need more info.. All Star? Reward? BMI or United Miles used? What is “not Europe” who’s rules are you using?
Enjoy RIX
I assume he might be going through IST ? That qualifies as Asia I think.
@Derek: Correct and not correct. I consider Istanbul part of Europe, but is one of my connection cities.
Damian, all Star, reward, UA miles used. Not an intra-Europe award, though I essentially was flying o/w from FRA to RIX with a layover in IST and a layover in one other city.
I’m going to say Cairo as the other connecting airport
TUN?
@Matt: Ha! I had considered that, but may go to TUN this weekend instead.
FRA-BEY-IST-RIX?
FRA-DXB-IST-RIX?
How was getting into town from RIX? Going there (and some non-European destinations) myself this weekend. 😉
@Ben: very, very close. You have found the second region.
I was thinking TLV, but who would voluntarily go through the security ordeal on a layover. Then again, who am I kidding – I’d do it in a heartbeat. 😉
AMM? DAM?
@Ben: Nope and nope, though the answer will be revealed in this week’s UPGRD podcast, which should go up today or tomorrow.
Riga was great, though you will only need one day to explore it. A long layover in RIX is perfect.
