After breakfast in the EgyptAir Gienah Lounge, I walked to the Almeisan Lounge, which turned out to be almost a mirror image lounge, but provided space and tranquilly for me to get some work done during my extended layover.
EgyptAir Almeisan Lounge Review
Rather than offer a huge, central lounge, EgyptAir offers small lounges scattered throughout expansive Terminal 3 at Cairo International Airport.
Location + Hours + Access Requirements
Access to this lounge is reserved for business and first class passengers as well as Star Alliance Gold members traveling in any cabin of service on a Star Alliance flight. EgyptAir Plus members with Gold, Elite, or Platinum status enjoy access, but not those with Silver status. The lounge is open daily from 6:00AM to 5:30PM and located in Terminal 3, Concourse F, behind Gate F10.
Upon walking in and presenting your credentials, you can head straight back behind he desk or turn right to find seat (there’s a small closet for luggage at reception if you do not feeling like taking it into the lounge).
The lounge looks like it has been refreshed in the last few years, with new faux wood floors, brown leather chairs, a copper-colored ceiling, and some fresh artwork and artificial plants.
When I entered the sun had still not risen, but it was up by the time I left, bringing plenty of natural light into the lounge.
Each chair had an end table within reach as well as an electrical outlet (European style 220-volt). A TV, tuned into CNN, was thankfully silent.
Restrooms appeared clean, but were a bit grimy, with some rust and dirt around the urinals (no pictures, sorry). Showers are not available in this lounge.
Food + Drink
All hot food is currently unavailable in EgyptAir lounges.
At 6:00am, the selection included:
- baked breakfast breads
- sliced vegetables
- whole fruit
- yogurt (labneh and fruit)
- baba ganoush
There was also a manual coffee machine, a microwave, and a refrigerator with soft drinks and juices. Knowing better than to try to make my own coffee, I asked for a cup of coffee and was told it would be brought to me.
(I’m not sure if the guy made it weak because he thought I was an American who had no appreciation for good coffee, but it was so weak I did not even finish it)
I did enjoy a heated almond pastry with my coffee.
The guys in this lounge looked at me very suspiciously as I was taking pictures. I suppose that was hard to blame them and am thankful they did not tell me that photography was not permitted. The beauty of the cell phone age is that mobile phone cameras are (generally) no longer viewed as a threat.
Again, a basic lounge with clean restrooms and a food selection that may not be totally satisfying, but also will not leave you hungry. The internet worked well, power ports were available, and I walked away an hour later having accomplished quite a bit of work.
It’s a real shame MS doesn’t care about their product. CAI has a ton of O/D traffic and their geography is just as beneficial as IST, DXB, DOH, or AUH. I guess low yields exCAI are the culprit, but if they could get their product up to slightly better standards, I feel like a lot of people would really like the airline.
It’s a shame that Air Egypt cheats the sick.
I tested positive on 31 march 2021 a day before my flight.Ie ticket and booking numbers ; 077359821869/3E7STS .
I communicated to you about my results and everything looked fine not until you even failed to rebook for me after i had recovered.I ended up using another air line and it’s now 7 months that you have never refunded my money after several online refund applications.
So out of the 3 lounges you visited so far there, is this the one you’d recommend the most?
I still have one more lounge to review – and it was the best one. Stay tuned.
I used this specific lounge a month ago while I was departing from Cairo … Unfortunately, I had the most uncomfortable, unpleasant and unprofessional staff attitude and management, the whole place wasn’t even clean and the food was horrible. The flight followed this experience wasn’t less bad although it was a long one to Toronto. Not recommended, and mostly because of the poor staff attitude as the aircraft itself was good and new ….
