First Look: Turkish Airlines Lounge Washington Dulles

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 8, 2016December 5, 2016 6 Comments

Back in April, Pizza in Motion reported that Turkish Airlines would be opening a lounge at Washington Dulles. I am on my way home to Los Angeles this morning and was pleased to see lounge construction is progressing nicely.

The lounge will be in the former home of the Virgin/Emirates lounge in Terminal B and there were initial questions over whether the lounge would be only for Turkish passengers or a Star Gold Lounge (meaning even United Star Golds would have access on domestic itineraries).

Some good news — it appears this will be a Star Gold lounge based upon the signage:

We already have the Lufthansa lounge a few gates down which is great, but if this is anything like TK’s July 15 Heroes of Democracy Lounge in Istanbul.

I’ve been a frequent guest at their lounge in IST and always look forward to it. My preference in IAD is, of course, the Lufthansa lounge. I hope these two lounges embarrasses United and forces it to step up to the plate, and make United lounges Number One!

I hope it will be open to Star Gold, though I have been wondering how TK will fare given all the turmoil in Turkey, which must be hurting as I think a lot of people who used to fly through IST are making other connections now. I also currently use LH lounges at IAD when I get a chance, and think the AF lounge is good as well when flying them. I would like too see what United has in mind for a Polaris lounge, though I gather that Is a ways off.

I wonder if they will call it the “July 4th Heroes against Colonialism” lounge.

    Hello everyone,

Is the Turkish Airlines lounge at Dulles open yet? Do we know exact date it will open? Also does this lounge allow non gold Star Alliance members to pay for entry and access to the lounge?

    Thanks.
