Google is partnering with AirTran, Delta, and Virgin America to offer free Wi-Fi on domestic flights during the holiday season this year. From November 20th through January 2nd, inflight internet will be complimentary on these carriers, all of which use Gogo inflight Wi-Fi.
David Cush, Virgin America’s CEO, sees the free Wi-Fi offer as bait to get passengers hooked, stating that "once people try Wi-Fi at 35,000 feet they rarely go back." I’m not so sure, but I do know that many will take advantage of the free trial.
Let’s see if American and United find a way to crash the party.
