With the U.S. Presidential Election approaching and the race still too close to call, there is going to be heartbreak on the losing side. If it is any consolation, JetBlue has you covered with their new “Live Free or Fly!” offer where you can win a free international ticket if your preferred candidate loses.
Two steps are required to enter–first, you choose your preferred candidate. Then, you specify which international destination you wish to travel to if your candidate loses. While JetBlue does not have a robust international route map, they do serve–
- Aruba
- Bahamas
- Barbados
- Bermuda
- Cayman Islands
- Colombia
- Costa Rica
- Dominican Republic
- Jamaica
- Mexico
- St. Maarten
- St. Lucia
- Turks & Caicos
JetBlue will give away 1,006 roundtrip certificates to participants whose candidate lost. Tickets are good for roundtrip travel from any airport JetBlue services to 21 international, nonstop destinations.
Gary thinks the polling will lean toward Obama even more so than current national polling, but I think the opposite may be true. With President Obama firmly ahead in the polls in many swing states, Governor Romney will need more than a strong debate performance to win this election. With that in mind, it seems the strategic thing to do would be to vote for Romney no matter what your political affiliation, because you cannot win one of the contest awards if your candidate loses. And you can always change your vote, or if you live in Chicago, “Vote early and vote often.”
Or maybe I am just being too strategic for a silly contest…
Thanks for writing about this! I was going to but then never got around to it! I signed up. I voted for the contender I think will lose that way I’m more likely to win a trip! Is that bad or wrong?
