Five Reasons to Attend FTU in Minneapolis

If you’ve never been to a Frequent Traveler University, consider attending the upcoming FTU in Minneapolis June 9th-11th.

I have been speaking at FTU events for several years now and would not do so if I did not believe in this fundamental premise: the pie is big enough to go around and you’re pretty foolish if you don’t take part.

Miles and points have been central to my life for over a decade now, but even for those just getting in the game now, there is still incredible value in smartly collecting and spending miles and points.

Here are five reasons why you should attend the FTU in Minneapolis.

1. A Networking Opportunity

The greatest fun at FTUs is chatting with the like-minded people you’ll be surrounded by. FTUs always feature a mix of beginners and more advanced “students” and the event becomes a great melting pot for learning and honing your skillcraft.

2. An Event to Gain Insight

I’d like to think I offer useful advice and that you’ll learn a few things from my session. But don’t come for me, come for:

  • Greg Davis-Kean (Frequent Miler)
  • Tiffany Funk (One Mile At A Time)
  • Stefan Krasowski (Rapid Travel Chai)
  • Jared Kamrowski (Thrifty Traveler)
  • Jon & Ben Nickel-D’Andrea (No Mas Coach)
  • Nick Reyes (Frequent Miler)
  • Ben Spangler

Keynote speakers include Gary Arndt of Everything Everywhere and Rudy Maxa of Rudy Maxa’s World.

These are all tremendously gifted speakers who are experts in what they do. From feedback I receive, even those with “advanced” skills still come away with nuggets of new and helpful information every FTU (it is why we see some attendees at every event).

3. A Safe Space

This relates to networking, but let’s face it—we are an odd crowd. Although I find that people actually love talking miles and points at parties, it takes a certain person to fly from New York to Los Angeles via Charlotte, Dallas, and Phoenix just for the segments. It takes a certain person to have more credit cards than years they have been alive. You’ll be safe here.

4. A Great City

Certainly Minneapolis locals are best-suited to attend this event, but it is a great venue for a conference. Minneapolis is a bustling city with much to do and see. If you’re into shopping, the Mall of America will be mere paces away from the Marriott Minneapolis Airport (group rate available at registration link below).

5. A Good Value

For everything above, the price point is very reasonable. One-on-one consultation will cost more for an hour than for a whole day at the conference. If you’re not into Manufactured Spending (I’m not…), take advantage of the Saturday only pass for $99. In fact, Live and Let’s Fly readers can save $20 by using the promo code LIVEFLYMSP. Just enter this when paying. Register here.

CONCLUSION

I hope to see many of you at FTU in Minneapolis in a couple weeks. It’s not too late to attend and will be a great time. If you have any questions, ask below and I’ll answer them.
