After landing at King Shaka International Airport in Durban, we stopped by Avis to pick up a car and were soon on our way. We had a bit of time before our first appointment and stopped for coffee (which turned into breakfast) at a café in Hillcrest, South Africa, on the outskirts of Durban.
Great Coffee In Hillcrest, South Africa
South Africa is a lovely place in that your dollar or euro goes quite far. I love that you can eat like a king in South Africa for the price you pay now pay for fast food in a major U.S. or European city.
We found a little place called Go Fresh Café, which calls itself a “health food restaurant” on Facebook. I’m not sure I’d go that far, but I enjoyed a great cup of coffee followed by a delicious breakfast.
Go Fresh Café & Juice Bar

450 Kassier Road
Hillcrest, South Africa

Open every morning at 8:00 am
Go Fresh is located on a farm, with a handful of other eateries, grocery stores, and specialty shops (like a wine shop and cheesemonger)
We sat outside on the patio: it was a beautiful winter morning and the air was crisp. The coffee came first, a strong and satisfying cappuccino.
My friends decided to order breakfast so I did too…a green drink filled with vegetables and fruit as well as some avocado toast (yes, you can be a millennial on a South African farm as well). Both were good choices and delicious.
We need up having an unexcited meeting there and spending a good 90 minutes at the table. Service was attentive and gracious.
CONCLUSION
Coffee is an important part of the South African lifestyle and in my many trips there, I find that good coffee is not so difficult to find. Here, we enjoyed a great cup of coffee, followed by breakfast. I hope to return to Go Fresh Café.
