Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will finally see an A350 at the gates of the Tom Bradly International Terminal.

Today, Hong Kong Airlines will launch new service to Los Angeles, adding a budget carrier to an already competitive route.

The new route will operate four times per week initially, but move to daily service starting on January 16, 2018.

Flight no.

The new Hong Kong service will actually be LAX’s first A350 flight. While Delta plans to introduce its new A350 (with close-door suite) on its LAX to Shanghai route starting next year, the airport has not even seen Delta bring the A350 to LAX for domestic service yet.

Later this week I will publish a trip report from Doha to New York on the Qatar Airways A350. I love this aircraft for its roominess, comfort, but most of all for its HD-tail cam.

I look forward to more A350s at LAX in the years to come.

ummm that pic looks a lot more like A330 or the very early sketches of “A350” that were since abandoned by Airbus in favor of the current clean sheet design

Although a subsidiary of HNA group who also relates to the HK based LCC HK Express;/., Hong Kong Airlines is not a budget carrier. Hong Kong Airlines has been offering a decent business class product with a reasonable price to many leisure destinations throughout Asia and Australia on its 330s.

    It’s no Dreanliner.

      Or Dreamliner.

Indeed, it is a much better aircraft.
