I give great credit to Hyatt for figuring out how to entice me to remain loyal when my status is already locked in for another year. Hyatt’s generous new elite earning promotion stacked with other great offers should cause all of us to give Hyatt a second look, even if we frequent other hotel chains.
Generous New Elite Earning Promotion From Hyatt
Between October 1, 2020 and the end of the year, every elite night earned will also earn an elite night toward 2021-22 status (i.e. for status valid till January 2023).
I’ve long opined the downside to status exemptions is that they discourage short-term loyalty because with status already locked in there is a tendency to branch out and try more convenient or cheaper options.
But with this promotion, I can start working on my 2022 status early.
Potential Points Earning
That alone would be enough to move me to Hyatt, but the potential to earn more than 20 World of Hyatt points per dollar spent is another powerful incentive.
Start by earning quadruple points at over 350 participation properties (the list will be published later in the month). Stack that with a Globalist bonus (extra 1.5 points per dollar) and paying with your World of Hyatt Credit Card (extra four points per dollar) and you’re looking at earning up to 25.5 points per dollar spent. (One Mile at a Time crunches the numbers nicely)
Considering how reasonable the Hyatt award chart is, even if you are only getting 1.5 cents in value per point (I’d say that is closer 1.8), you’re getting a return of nearly 40%.
Other Bonuses
And if that was not enough, Hyatt is still offering 10-15% rebates on points redemptions (plus an extra 10% with the World of Hyatt Credit Card). This promotion is valid for stays through January 4, 2021.
Furthermore, Hyatt is offering free parking for all World of Hyatt members on award stays and for Globalist members on any stay.
Finally, you can still earn triple points on dining if you visit a Hyatt to eat and are not a guest there. Blue Duck Tavern anyone?
CONCLUSION
What a compelling suite of promotions…Hyatt, you’ve sold me. I had planned to diversify and try out other properties for the remainder of the year, but with the economic certainty surrounding the future, I’ll double down and keep my business within the Hyatt family.
Do these promotions move you to direct more business to Hyatt?

Buyer’s market. After giving customers many devaluations and poor promotions in the last couple years, hotels and airlines are now begging for customers so not surprised to see them offering very appealing promotions, cutting changing fees, etc…. There will be way more of these coming since they are all fighting for survival.
Ok let me expand on Santastico’s remarks one should first look at the definition of a word their using and in that context as well as Santastico’s remark your not being “Loyal” you were bought and paid for simple as that. Which is ok, I get it but loyal no. Loyalty is something that you do even to your detriment not limited to your gain. Example and you know this Alaska Airlines has the best if not in the upper levels of loyal flyers. I am a MM and there were many times that other carriers came after the AS flyers but walked away with limited success.
The other comment I want to make is how many people will really move for this given the fact that travel is down and will be down for sometime to come so Hyatt’s gain I think will be more to the people hacking the system as well as ones that have to travel for specific reasons. For me who up till the virus outbreak average 135K a year 100 business travel, travel since virus 0, travel anticipated through next spring 0.
This is not met to be a personal comment rather my opinion.
Travel safe.
I honestly don’t follow. Choosing Hyatt for the remainder of the year is to my detriment in many ways. I had planned to try Marriott and Hilton properties for the rest of the year because those are much less reviewed on LALF than Hyatt and are often cheaper and in many cases more luxurious or convenient. Now I won’t because I want to get started on Hyatt 2022.That means I’ll lose out on convenience, blog value, and price in many cities. Isn’t that the very definition of brand loyalty?
My comment taken down? Is an opposing view censored now?
What are you talking about?
It’s a great promotion and I am all about Hyatt. Just love them is all I can say. But, let’s face it, they can do all the promos they want yet in the end I spend as much time, if not more, at Bonvoy properties. Hyatt needs more of a footprint to really break through. While others have gobbled up brands across the board, Hyatt has remained, for the most pat, quiet. They need to step up. I would love to make them my exclusive but it’s impossible beyond major markets, where even then the choices are limited.
So, for all we talk about how great Hyatt is, and I am the first to agree, they are never going to get the loyalty they deserve until they rapidly expand (Hyatt Place hardly counts) and either develop more properties or start grabbing other brands and bringing them into the Hyatt fold (even though there is little left).
I am still waiting for the ultimate moment…Hyatt, Four Seasons, and/or Rosewood. Then we are talking.
No, I won’t be using this promo. For many years I had top tier with Hyatt in Gold Passport ( Diamond, IIRC). It was okay. Then they started the crazy Globalist thing, making people jump through hoops to requalify (..but concurrently offering instant top status to , US-based only, employees of big companies. It made me reflect on some very indifferent stays at GHs and even some PHs, but tolerated as part of the loyalty equation. No more: I’ve moved on and haven’t stayed in Hyatt for more than a year.
I couldn’t justify the premium to choose Hyatt…with the exception of Vienna, Milan and London. They’re the jewels in the crown, and fantastic hotels, but it was necessary to experience a whole lot of dross elsewhere to keep up the nights count.
