Guests at the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun were told to rapidly seek cover as at least two men armed with machine guns opened fire in what appears to be a drug-related conflict.
Shooting at Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at the Hyatt Ziva Riviera, a popular all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. After two men entered the property grounds with automatic machine guns and opened fire, guests were told to seek cover and barricade themselves in their rooms. Initial reports suggest the shooting took place on the hotel’s beach.
The local prosecutor’s office later tweeted that the confrontation was between members of antagonistic drug gangs and two men lost their lives. No hotel guests were shot or injured.

One guest told CNN:
“I was by the pool when multiple successive gunshots occurred. It went on for a little while and everyone dove for cover. We manned the entrances to the basement and were given metal sticks, even a pedestal bathroom sink, to defend ourselves.”

Is it a gay party? How come I only see guys?
“ALL-LGBT+ COMPLETE RESORT BUYOUT”.
But that statement seems unrepresentative of the crowd at the resort.
It should be noted that Mr Klint’s likeness had appeared in the original version of thr second photo’s lower right corner. She has since been cropped in the latest update.
No photos have been edited and I have not been near Cancun since well before the pandemic began.
Not sure about that, but I do recognize Stuart in the blue banana hammock in that same photo.
looks like it was during this week long party booked thru Vacaya…

Was there a sausage convention at the hotel?
You cannot pay me enough to go to Mexico.
There was a similar shooting two weeks ago in Tulum. Two tourists were caught in the crossfire between two gangs and were killed.
Salami convention
Wow that Singleton is a complete moron telling everyone and their brother about the “hidden rooms” behind the kitchen. What an idiot.
As others have said, it does look like some kind of a gay mecca over there. I wonder if the drug dealers chose this resort as part of their DE&I initiative.
Were the gunmen wearing speedos?
Cancun and its environs better get its act together. It used to be that the tourist areas were off limits re: violent activity. Not so much anymore. Tourists are starting to think twice about going there just as COVID recovery is occurring.
Anywhere is fair game when it comes to violent crime in Mexico.
Just went to Puerto Vallarta with the family for a week. Felt totally safe. No issues. The press is making a huge deal of this. How many shootings in Chicago last month or LA. ? Are you all afraid to go there.? Far more violent places than Mexico.
The rest of the world is opening……Mexico, your days are numbered. Especially if you greet tourists with machine guns.
Isn’t the location of the shootings best described as being on the public land outside of this Hyatt Ziva resort property?
Back when the nexus between Mexican government officials and the drug cartels in Mexico was way tighter, there was “stronger management” that maintained a tighter lid on drug-related violence around the prime tourist areas. Not so much anymore.
These all-inclusive Hyatts sound awful. Even the nearby Andaz Mayakoba leaves much to be desired.
Perhaps the shooters are future Democratic voters. If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for Biden or Trump, then you ain’t Latinx!

Gay jokes are not funny, cum on guys.
This reminds me of when the Cayman Islands wouldn’t let the gay cruise dock and they all had shirts made that said “Cayman my ass”.
Meanwhile in Chicago they call that Monday evening between 530-715!!!!
I am almost certain I saw Smithers from the Simpsons in that photo!!
