Bachelorette Party Ends in Tragedy as Private Jet Crashes

Matthew Klint Posted onMarch 15, 2018November 14, 2023 Leave a Comment

A sad story from Iran, where a private jet carrying a Turkish socialite and her closest friends slammed into a mountain, killing everyone onboard.

Mina Basaran, the 28-year-old Daughter of Turkish billionaire Huseyin Basaran, was in Dubai to celebrate her upcoming nuptials with seven friends. She was to be wed in Turkey next month and chose Dubai as the destination for her bachelorette party.

The trip over, using her father’s private jet, went without a hitch. But the flight back required navigating through a fierce storm over Iran.

The Bombardier CL604 jet departed from Sharjah International Airport (Sharjah is an emirate neighboring Dubai) and climbed to 35,000 feet before the altitude fluctuated rapidly in the final minutes before the crash.

Tragically, the plane hit a mountain and burst into flames in Shahr-e Kord, about 230 miles south of Tehran. All eight passengers and three crewmembers died upon impact.

Basaran was an Instagram star and posted several pictures during her bachelorette party in Dubai, including one just hours before the fatal flight back to Turkey. Her Instagram account has since been disabled.

CONCLUSION

This story grabs headlines because Basaran was a socialite (her father has named a series of high rise apartments in Istanbul “Mina Towers”), but forget for one moment the social status of the passengers. How sad that in a moment of joyous celebration life would so tragically end. Across all of humanity, we can mourn this untimely death.
