Greetings from beautiful Italy, where I’ve spend most of the week…on the Autostrade.
I’m on a 10-11 day trip in Italy with one of my salesman from my other line of work. We started in Rome and will be hitting every major city north of the Italian capital. After Italy, we will also head to France and Holland…and perhaps Germany and Austria too.
This report will not go into the nature or specifics of my meetings. Rather, I will post daily short reflections recounting my traveling/dining/sleeping in Italy and my attempt to manage my time when there are simply not enough hours in the day.
I realize that this is not the sort of first class/luxury trip report I tend to focus on. But, a big part of trying to make this blog is unique is sharing my life with you: the extraordinary…and the mundane.
I’ll discuss being away from my wife and son as well as finding a place to sleep at night when we get tired of driving (rather than carefully planning five-star hotel stays). I’ll talk about some of the interactions, meals, and impressions on spending more than a week in beautiful Italy.
In the end, this brief trip report series will (hopefully) make clear that travel is not always glamorous, even in Rome, Florence, Bologna, Milan, Torino, and Venice (sounds lovely, doesn’t it?).
Note, I won’t include many pictures in the report. It is not that kind of report. Hopefully, though, you will find it interesting.

I like such travelogues, bring it on !
Drive safely Matthew and watch out for those speed cameras and the Polizia Stradale.
Looking forward to it.
As an avid Italian traveler I cannot wait to hear your reports. Agree with Mike’s comments above. If you are not extremely careful you will have a collection of traffic tickets coming out of your way when you are back. From speeding, to parking, to red lights, to everything nonsense you will get a huge bill. Last, I know you love Mexican food but please do not commit that sin while in Italy. 🙂
