LAX TSA Chorus Sings Christmas Carols

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 24, 2015December 5, 2016 3 Comments

A volunteer cadre of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at Los Angeles International Airport has assembled into a singing group, called the LAX TSA Chorus. And they’re not bad either…not too bad…

I took the videos below five years ago and never posted them because I was going through my anti-TSA phase at the time (the TSA was egregiously violating the Constitution at the time through virtual strip searches without probable cause). Thankfully, the TSA took corrective action and also introduced PreCheck, meaning I have no more issues with the agency.

According to the LA Times, the group sings other songs too–

Even though the group’s signature piece is Ray Charles’ “America the Beautiful,” Matute said he looks forward to singing “Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel,” a song with lyrics about the birth of Jesus Christ.

“We don’t do ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ because it’s a government chorus, and we try to keep church and state out of it,” said Matute. “But I’m pushing the envelope a little bit with that one,” he laughed. “It’s Christmas.”

These workers claim to do this on a voluntary basis and on that basis, I applaud their actions.

What do you think about the updates to the PIA regarding the opt out of the body scanners? PreCheck won’t be much help if you are forced into the machine when the WTMD beeps “randomly”.

An easy way to destress the travel experience around the horrendously busy holiday times… why can’t we have this in Boston?!

@Daniel: It seems that we are not really being forced into full body scanners, so for now I will withhold judgment.
