Some good news this morning in terms of our miles and points: at least for now, partners still have access to Lufthansa First Class award space even though Miles & More has now gone dynamic in terms of pricing.
Miles & More Dynamic Pricing Live, But Partner Award Redemptions For Lufthansa First Class Still Available
My fear (and thankfully incorrect prediction) was that today would mark the end of partner access to Lufthansa First Class award space. My reasoning was that if Miles & More was going to dramatically raise the price of its tickets for its own members, then it certainly would not continue to give its partners access to the same seats, even just close-in, that cost far less.
I tend to start my day clicking on this page on Seats.aero, which lists current first class award availability bookable via Air Canada Aeroplan, and was pleased to see many options still available:
But we are seeing changes today:
- Mileage pricing does not appear strictly tied to region or distance, but based on fares
- For example, flying Copenhagen – Frankfurt – Los Angeles may be cheaper than flying just Frankfurt – Los Angeles on the same flight in the same cabin because when buying a revenue ticket, Lufthansa is forced to “discount” its connecting options to incentivize people to fly via its hubs rather than nonstop (that fare logic now applies to mileage tickets)
- As is true with revenue tickets, we see fares (and now mileage redemptions) originating out of Europe are cheaper than originating out of the United States (fares originating in Europe across many carriers are cheaper, reflecting a different market than that which originates in the USA).
We see this with Delta Air Lines, Air France, and KLM on some itineraries, were a one-way may be more than a round-trip ticket.
This is a trend that makes perfect sense in terms of revenue tickets, and I suppose it makes sense with award tickets, though historically, award ticket pricing has not been that precise.
CONCLUSION
I’ll unpack the full changes to the program as we learn more and I test out different award searches to look for a pattern, but the biggest takeaway this morning is that Lufthansa is still releasing first class space to its Star Alliance partners, and I am very thankful for that.

Are you as relieved as I am that we can still use Aeroplan miles to book Lufthansa First Class
Your earlier post motivated me to get on Lufthansa first class again in late May 2025, before M&M went dynamic, and I liked my experience far better than in 2019. I favor MUC over FRA and LH’s A380 over its 748 for first class. Anyways, I realize now that I must explore Munich and Bavaria!
