Through the end of March, Air France/KLM offered a generous status match with no challenge or flight requirements mandated. United, Continental, and US Airways elites were eligible to participate and the offer brought instant SkyTeam elite status.
For those of you who took advantage, the promotion just got a little sweeter thanks to Lufthansa’s Miles & More program.
Lufthansa is now offering elites in the Flying Blue program status matches good through February 2013. Flying Blue Silver matches to Miles & More FTL (Star Silver), while Flying Blue Gold and Platinum matches to Miles & More Senator (Star Gold).
There is one catch, which might be a bit difficult for those flyers based outside of Europe: you need to fly two segments on Lufthansa or one of their European partners to get the status match.
After only one booked flight (two segments) with Adria Airways, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT, Lufthansa, Luxair or SWISS, you will receive your gold or silver Miles & More card.
Thankfully this will not be a problem for me! It bears mentioning that with Lufthansa Senator status, you will enjoy free access to Star Alliance Gold Lounges whenever you are on a Star Alliance flight. That means that while UA, CO, and US elites do not have access to lounges on purely domestic U.S. tickets, LH Senators will have lounge access even if they are flying on a cheap domestic ticket in economy class.
To take advantage of this offer, simply fill out this form. You will need to provide a copy of your Flying Blue elite card.
Any chance of seeing this for OW elites?
