I enjoyed a surprisingly delicious dinner and coffee at Mercantile Dining And Provision in Denver International Airport (DEN), a Priority Pass restaurant.
Mercantile Restaurant Review – Denver (DEN)
My flight home to LA was delayed and that left me the chance to stop and sample Mercantile Restaurant in The A Concourse. There’s a Mercantile Dining And Provision at Union Station in Denver’s city center that looks really good. Could the airport location measure up?
The restaurant is located airside in Concourse A near gate 39 and is open daily from 6:00 am to 12:00 am. While American Express and Capital One cardholders can no longer use their Priority Pass benefits for restaurants, if your Priority Pass membership is via Chase Sapphire Reserve, you still can (you receive a $28 restaurant credit per-person, for up to two people).
You’ll notice Mercantile has a both a to-go side with coffee bar and a sit-down restaurant and bar area. You cannot use your Priority Pass benefits to take food to-go from the takeaway side, but you can sit down and order it in the dining room.
The restaurant was fairly crowded at 8:00 pm, though I did not have to wait more than two minutes for a seat. My Priority Pass card then boarding pass were scanned at the entrance and I was presented with a receipt that showed my $28 in credit.
My mobile phone and laptop were low at this point and I was quite pleased that my booth had not only a power outlet, but a USB-A charging port.
A friendly waitress came over and asked me what I wanted to drink. I had already reviewed the menu, and ordered a cappuccino as well as the lamb meatballs (served with tzatziki, cured cucumber, mint, and herb salad). I considered odd the streak and frites, but figured I would try these next time. Other menu items included appetizers, soup, salad, sandwiches, and entrees like fish and chips or a miso salmon rice bowl.
Cocktails, beer, and wine were on the high side in terms of pricing.
My expectations were low for the coffee because of the automatic machine (same machines United now uses in its airport lounges), but it was surprisingly delicious (I’ll have to update my Denver Airport Coffee post…).
Coffee options were not printed on the regular menu and I was impressed to see a respectable coffee menu in the to-go area, including cortados.
My lamb meatballs were also very delicious–the tazatki and herb salad was also a very nice combination. The portion included four golf ball-sized meatballs.
My total came out under $28, but I was able to leave a $5 tip on my credit card for the waitress. If you sit down, do tip your waiter or waitress.
CONCLUSION
Denver has two great Priority Pass restaurants and I loved the coffee and lamb meatballs at Mercantile and look forward to returning. In fact, this restaurant and SweetWater Mountain Taphouse are compelling reasons to choose Denver versus other hubs to connect in when flying United.

Prince de Lise is not Champagne and they ought to correct their menu 🙂
@Matthew, is it landside or airside? “The restaurant is located landside in Concourse A near gate 39…”
Even as an appetizer or “shareable,” that portion seems quite small…
Airside indeed. Sorry for key typo.
I’ve only had the coffee bar to-go here and thought it was solid for an airport. Their location downtown is still better (proper barista-made drinks, etc.).
DEN’s flurry of concession construction has provided a lot more options for coffee. I think the new Novo (which also locations downtown) in A just off the center core is probably the best. Kabod has a few locations out there now, too, including the Great Hall (landside) and in B. Not a huge a fan of their roasts, but not a bad option for variety sake.
Thanks for the review! Just used the restaurant today and it’s basically everything I want in a PP restaurant.
Relatively good food, quick service, fast seating and very efficient. Absolutely no issues with the $28 credit.
Personally, I had the Korean fried checkin sandwich and it was really good. It had fresh herbs/greens and I would definitely order again.
5 dollar tip on a 28 dollar free tab? Do better.
I’d say 24% was more than enough, thank you very much ($5 on a $21 bill).
Don’t like it? Go find some other line of work…
