US Airways and American Airlines have reached a preliminary deal with the U.S. Department of Justice concerning their planned merger. Details are still emerging.
Under the proposal, American and US Airways would sell 104 takeoff and landing slots at Reagan National Airport in Washington, 34 slots at La Guardia Airport in New York, and various assets at five other airports, including O’Hare Airport in Chicago, Los Angeles International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.
The settlement still needs to be approved by Federal District Court in the District of Columbia.
Now will American and US Airways be free to outdo Delta and United in their own award chart devaluations? We will soon find out. This deal is in the bag.
And the US Airways MasterCard soon will be too. Take advatnage of up to 40,000 points with the US Airways MasterCard before this card goes the way of the dodo.
Check out how I used my US Airways Dividend Miles to book a business class trip around the world for only 90,000 miles.
Stop pushing credit card so hard, would you? It’s like the commercial every two minutes on prime time show.
@Shannon: Have you signed up for a US Airways MasterCard? If not, you should. I push them for a reason and it is more than just the tiny commission I receive for sign-ups. This is a good card to have and with the merger coming, it will not be available much longer.
